A/N: My first NejiTenten fanfic, also my first Naruto fanfic. I haven't written any fanfiction in a while, so please, feel free to criticize and give suggestions. I apologize for the lack of updates I have made as well. ''
I do not own Naruto in any shape or form.
What if we were all merely pawns in a game of chess?
A game where love decides who will be loser and who will be victor? Who will be knocked out, who will be brought back, and who will end up just staying in the same place.
What if we are merely just used as love says?
What if we all subconsciously follow orders, as if they were from the Hokage herself? Except it is not from the Hokage, but from the orders of our heart?
Does fate decide who we ending up loving? Or is it merely our own choice, our own path. How can we not believe that we are not doing things the way we do them because we choose to.
Hyuuga Neji used to be a devote believer in fate. He believed that it was fate caused his father to die, that fate decides how you live your life, and that fate decides whether you become Hokage or not.
But this feeling that he felt now. Was this fate as well? Was it fate that he was to be wed to someone he was note sure that he truly cared for? Was it fate that his dearest companion and sparring partner was only sitting in the aisle? And that she wasn't standing next to him? Not the one with the veil, not the one with the beautiful white dress?
The one, however, who was wearing the veil and the white dress, was the student of the Hokage, was the one who used to be so focused on Uchiha, and was the one who seemed to care for him greatly.
But he could tell, this wasn't the person that HE cared for greatly. The one who he cared for greatly was on his team, was sparring with him before the day that fate decided that Uzumaki Naruto would win over him, and that the person he cared greatly, was the one who was wiping her tears in her seat, trying to be strong.
But none-the-less, now, he could not turn back. His family had set up the wedding, her family was watching proudly from their seats, and everyone was right there, expecting both of them to be the happiest people on earth at the moment.
No matter how much he wanted to.
No matter how much he needed to.
No matter how much it pained him inside.
He couldn't leave now.
And so on and so forth, the day went on. He continued with his vow, he said "I do.", and he kissed his bride. But it would be a lie, if Neji were to say that he wasn't thinking about how fate was tricking him, and it would be an even greater lie if Neji were to say that he wasn't thinking of another girl at every single moment…
A/N: I know, not my best work by a long-shot probably. It was just something that I felt like writing because the thought came up in my head. So please, review and give criticism.
