Sailing on a Sonnet

Disclaimer: I do not own Pirates of the Caribbean. Nor do I own Captain Jack Sparrow, for that matter. If I did, I'd be one heck of a lot richer!

A/N: This poem is from Jack's Point of View. I've also published this on http://justjack.absolute-terror.net/home.html under the user name Mistress Cassandra. This is sort of a love poem... but, well, you'll see! :) Please review or send your comments to heavensent0139@aol.com.

The rising sun,
Start of a new day,
A new beginning,
My only destination

My black-smudged eyes closing,
Dark in the yellow-gold light
Of the crimson morn
Unbidden, you come to my thoughts

Your figure appears in Orion,
And your face in my rum-laced dreams,
Your laughter in the creaking boards,
Your heartbeat in the waves

But alas, you are lost to me
In the hands of another
Safe, I hope
Until I can find you

I vow on pain of death
To break you from your cell
And take you on the open sea
Where only time can quell

A harbor in the distance
Port Royal with its Navy fleet
Closer I come to you
With every foot I sail

I will rescue you,
And take you in my arms again,
My beauty, my love,
My Black Pearl.
