Hey guys, this is my first fanfic so be nice, constructive critisism rather than flames, ok?

This story is the first of what will hopefully become a collection of short vignettes and, most of them, if not all, will be RaeRob. The stories won't link and as of right now won't have a linking theme either.

Ok, I have to apologise about the length of this one. I know it's very short and I'm still not 'wow'ed by how i set the scene up myself but, for a first, I don't think I did too badly. And now, onwards with the story!

Disclaimer: I really don't own these guys. Remember that please?

"What did you say?" Raven probed, stunned at what she had misheard.

Robin stared at her incredulously. 'Had the past few months not shown her anything?' he thought. The months of going out of his way for a conversation with her, the expression on his face that was caught many times by their team mates and the apparent way his whole demeanour changed when she entered the room could have passed her by. Could have. But surely his actions before, during battle, saving her, had put forward his feelings. Made his love for her blatantly obvious. Surely she saw that.

"I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost you, Raven," he replied, his eyes meeting hers. The deep indigo that stirred in her eyes when she was troubled was encasing the beautiful lavender that was usually found in its place.

She kept a steely expression on her face; sure that she was inferring a deeper meaning from his words than he intended to be taken in. "What do you mean?"

"Today… the fight… I thought that I had lost you, Raven. I thought you were gone and… and I never got to tell you that I-" He wanted to break their eye contact. He couldn't bear the look in her eyes. A mixture of disbelief and disappointment studied him, searching for a true meaning. "I couldn't lose you. I don't know what I'd do"

"Robin…"

"You almost died today, Raven. You made me realise that I had to tell you. I have to. Raven, I…" Robin shifted his gaze up to the ceiling and sought strength for his next few words. "I love you."

Raven's incredulous eyes softened. She had believed it odd that he had sought her attention so much, believing it to be a consequence of an adolescent infatuation for her and nothing more. She had wished though, that he would someday return her unspoken, unexpressed emotions for him. His look wandered back down and met her eyes. Moving forward and without a word, Raven wrapped her arms around his muscular form.

"I love you, Raven"

His hand gingerly caressed her soft ivory cheek and he pulled her petite body into his, embracing her. She nestled her cheek into his warm chest and felt herself being held tighter. "I needed to tell you, Raven. I just needed you to know," he lifted a hand and gently ran it through her silky tresses. "Those guys, I didn't know that they could inflict so much pain upon you. I felt so helpless. I couldn't do anything about it, closed behind that screen. I could've killed them, Raven. I could've -"

"Shhh. Robin, you helped me. You did. You were there and I needed you there. You helped me, you got them away. You saved me, Robin." Raven closed her eyes and leant into his embrace.

"I-"

"I love you too, my Boy Wonder"
