10 Things You Didn't Know About Maximum Ride

1. She understands the Erasers.

Not exactly understands, but she gets where they're coming from. They hurt, physically and mentally-just like she does. They long for kindness, someone to say "it's all gonna be okay,"-just like she does. They are confused, and often think "why me?"-just like she does.

2. She is really disappointed in Jeb

She expected more of him. Jeb was like a father to the flock. He encouraged them, he was the first human to be kind to them, he set them free…and then he turns around and stabs them in the back. When Max first found out Jeb was alive, and back as a whitecoat, she was nearly in tears. She expected more him. Max expected a dad out of her father.

3. She has always kind of had a crush on Fang

When Fang kissed the red-haired-wonder she knew. When Fang flirted with Dr. Bridget Stupendous, she knew. When she kissed possible-Eraser-Sam, she knew.

4. She has, and always will, value the lives of the flock above her own

Fang-her second in command; Iggy-he may be blind, but he sees more than anyone ever could; Nudge-her little fashionista; the Gasman-the creative, fun little brother; Angel-her baby…even when they turned on her in Fang, Max knew they were hers. They were family. They're just kids-thrown into this harsh, evil world…just children acting out, who would eventually turn to their mother, in this case, Max; and need a good cry. And she'd be there, the shoulder they could cry on, because they were hers; they were family.

5. She loved Ari

Jeb's son. Her brother. Ari. A seven-year-old boy in an evil Eraser body. Max often wonders: Did you want this to happen to you? Was it forced upon you? Did you scream, little boy, when it happened? Do you wonder about me, too? Is your very existence as painful as mine? I miss you, little brother, who died in my arms. I miss you, three-year-old human boy, who used to care. I miss you.

6. She never thought the Director could be her mother

Even when she flat out said, "Max, I'm your mother" she never truly believed. How could she come from such a women? Answer: She couldn't. It was not possible.

7. She always thought of Dr. Martinez as her mother

From the moment Max saw her, she knew she was her mother…not consciously, but somewhere inside, she knew. They way she hugged her, the way was looked at her, the way she talked to her…that was a mother.

8. She felt bad for Omega

A soulless, hard, cold robot: that is what Omega was. That is what she could have been.

9. She always thought of Ella as a sister

Flying by, high in the sky, Max saw a little girl being picked on. To stand up for the weaker: this is what leaders do. That is what Max did, and she got a sister out of it…the best sister in the world.

10. She feels blessed, in a way

She feels blessed to have the flock. She feels blessed to have Fang. She feels blessed to have her wings, because without them, she would have never had to become a leader…to become Maximum Ride.
