A/N: Hey everybody. So, I've had a look on here after seeing the film 'Mama' back in January (I think) and have found hardly any fanfics on it. I thought I'd give it a shot at writing one, starting off as a oneshot, may continue if I like the way it's going and if you like it too!

Hope you enjoy!

Lilly couldn't remember her real family. The only family she knew was Victoria and Mama...that was until the men came. They'd heard the floorboards creek as soon as they came through the front door, Lilly had been in what was once a laundry room but had scurried back to the safety that was Victoria once alerted to their presence. They'd backed away, stumbling over furniture in their hurry for the door and Lilly had dived under the table in the kitchen.

It wasn't long before they were back – and they weren't alone. Big boots strode past Lilly's hiding place, she heard Victoria scream and shuffled back further as a giant man in dark clothes wrestled her sister out the door. Lilly was suddenly confronted by the face of an old man, upside down and only inches away from her.

'I've found her!' He shouted. Startled by the sudden noise, Lilly lashed out, striking his face with her hand, she caught his eye and he reeled back in shock. Without warning hands grabbed her legs and pulled her from under the table. She screamed as she was lifted and carried from the house and pushed firmly into a seat next to Victoria, a strap restrained her and to her horror she saw they were moving away from the house. Tears began to slide down her face.

'Mama!' her small voice called as the cabin faded from view.

She and Victoria had been placed in a large room with a window that took up nearly a whole wall. She couldn't see out of it but she was sure people were looking in – she could feel their eyes on her. One afternoon she and Victoria had a new visitor. A man who looked vaguely familiar and who seemed to know Lilly's name. Victoria had hugged him.

Not long after they'd been taken to what had been referred to as their 'family home' to start a 'new life'. She had clung to Victoria's coat as the man and a woman approached them. They greeted the girls warmly. The woman crouched down.

'Hey. Come here!'

Neither of them moved. Hope rose in Lilly's chest,

'Mama?'

'No, no I'm not mum, don't call me that. I'm Annabelle, you can call me that. Or Annie. Or anything you want. We can work it out together, right?'

Lilly felt an odd feeling of rejection. She followed into the house. It was big, much bigger than the cabin, they were shown to the garden. Lilly spotted a large box and jumped into it. She smiled, she could almost lay flat in it. Her arms reached out and pulled the flaps over the top, shielding herself from the sunlight. Lilly lifted her hand to the light and watched the sunlight filter through her finger tips. A single moth fluttered into the box and landed on Lilly's shoulder, she turned and smiled at it and closed her eyes.

What seemed like seconds later, Lilly felt cold air whipping her face, the shelter of the box had been folded away and Lilly was lifted into warm arms. Her eyes flicked open and she saw Annabelle carrying her back up the garden. Lilly didn't have the energy to fight back. She closed her eyes again, allowing her head to rest on Annabelle's shoulder. This felt nothing like when Mama hugged her. Annabelle was soft and warm and Lilly could feel the vibration of her feet hitting the floor as she walked.

Annabelle sat on the edge of her bed and bent over to lay Lilly down. Almost reluctantly, Lilly let go. As Annabelle stood and left, Lilly uttered one inaudible word.
