Alec's face lit up. "There's Magnus" he said, and took off without a backwards glance, shearing a path through the crowd to the space where the tall warlock stood. Magnus's surprise as Alec approached was visible, even from this distance…"But-" Maia, still looking over at Alec and Magnus, broke off and raised her eyebrows. Simon turned to see what she was looking at- and started.

Alec had his arms around Magnus and was kissing him, full on the mouth. Magnus, who appeared to be in a state of shock, stood frozen. Several groups of people, Shadowhunters and Docnworlders alike- were staring and whispering. Glancing to the side, Simon saw the Lightwoods, their eyes wide, gaping at the display. Maryse had her hand over her mouth.

Maia looked perplexed, "Wait a second," she said. "Do we all have to do that, too?"

Pg 421. The Mortal Instruments City of Glass. Cassandra Clair.

Alec's heart was pounding as he approached the tall warlock. Magnus was standing in a well-lit part of the room, people and downworlders milling around him. Alec stood awkwardly in front of the man, steelie out stretched. "Will you be my partner?" he asked. This wasn't the part he was worried about. It was what came next. The battle. Either one of them could be killed. This could be the last time that the two could see each other. Alec was never any good at hiding his emotions; he was like an open book. His heart was pounding and a small layer of sweat had formed over his brow.

Magnus cleared his throat. It was then that Alec noticed the outstretched hand in front of him, the palm turned up. Alec put his steelie to Magnus's soft skin. His hand was shaking lightly as he drew on the Mark. His was trying to keep his face from revealing too much, his dark hair was in front of his eyes, obscuring his vision. When the mark was done, Alec quickly handed the steelie over to his boyfriend, who in turn began to draw on the marks double. He was pressing too hard, Alec's hand involuntarily jerked lightly when Magnus hit a nerve. Magnus made a small soothing sound before continuing. Alec sighed when the warlock was done.

Alec lifted his head to Magnus's, although the warlock was a few inches taller, Alec felt small as a mouse in his presence. Alec squeaked out a few words. Magnus raised his eyebrow signalling that he didn't hear him. Alec squeaked again, Magnus moved closer, bending his head to see what Alec was saying. Alec swallowed, it was now or never. Alec stood up on tip toes, his face heading straight for Magnus's. He flung his arms around his boyfriends neck as their mouths collided. He smiled around the kiss.

He heard the whispering and murmurs of the other people in the hall, though to him it was almost inaudible. He was too wrapped up in his kiss with Magnus to be concerned about people seeing them; he even might have wanted people to see. Against his body, Magnus was in a state of shock, his lanky frame stiff against Alec's embrace. He eventually moulded into Alec's from, fitting against him like a missing piece to a puzzle. Magnus had his left hand resting on Alec's shoulder, the right one balled up in his boyfriend's hair.
