The Many Loves of Blaise Zabini
By Silver Sailor Ganymede

Sometimes he's in love with Lisa Turpin. She may only be a mudblood, but she's wonderful on the eye, with shining brown hair and thick, full lips. She's not too bad to listen to, either, not that he usually gives her any chance to talk.

Sometimes he's in love with Terry Boot, who's a Ravenclaw through and through. He fiddles with his glasses and blushes when he speaks, and there's always, always the sense that he really shouldn't be doing this – but that's what makes it interesting.

Sometimes he's in love with Zacharias Smith, who frankly refuses to acknowledge that anything they do together has ever happened. That suits him fine – if the other boy wants to lie and save face then why should he care about that?

Sometimes he's in love with Dean Thomas, but Dean never really seems to notice. He'll stretch out on the grass and lie perfectly still while Dean sketches him. He'll smile and he'll sit and he'll do what he's told, but nothing more than that ever happens, no matter how much he wants it to.

Sometimes he's in love with Susan Bones. He'll whisper sweet nothings in her ear and watch her blush as red as her hair. She's sweet, almost too sweet, but not every love can be bitter.

Sometimes he's in love with Theodore Nott, but Theodore really just doesn't care. He'll watch him prance around wearing bright red lipstick and go with him to the Yule Ball, but he'll hex him when he tries to kiss him. Theodore really has no patience at all.

Sometimes he's in love with a woman, sometimes a man: sometimes a pureblood, sometimes a mudblood: sometimes with someone who loves him back, sometimes with someone who doesn't even realise he's there. What's always the same is that, in the end, Blaise Zabini finds himself alone again.
