In The Hall

"Hiro, are you ready yet?" Shuichi Shindou, the bright-eyed bushy-tailed lead singer of Bad Luck stood outside the bathroom door.

A sigh was heard from inside and finally, "One second Shuichi, I'm almost done."

"It's all right," the bubblegum-tone-haired boy chuckled. "It must be a pain to get all that blue paint out of your hair. That Ryuichi Sakuma sure went overboard…"

"Tell me about it," Hiro murmured as the door to the bathroom opened and he stepped out, squeezing a bundle of his burgundy hair with a towel. "Seguchi said he needs someone to touch up the paint in the hallway and he was the first to volunteer."

Shuichi shuffled his feet a bit. "I'm really sorry about that, I should have warned you when the bucket tipped over. Eh-heh."

"No problem, it came out easily," Hiro smiled and patter his shoulder.

They were cut off when a speeding Ryuichi dashed through the hall, holding out his pink rabbit plush out in front of him. "Kumogoro, where are you taking me? Hah!"

Crash! As he sped by, Ryuichi knocked into Shuichi, sending him flying slightly and crash against Hiro, knocking both of them to the floor.

"You okay?" Hiro asked as he sat up on his shoulder.

Shuichi rubbed his head feeling a little off but not too horrible. "Yeah I think so…Man, where did –that- come from?"

"Beats me, he's a strange one…" the guitarist laughed and helped Shuichi sit up a bit more.

It was odd then. On one hand, Hiro really did not want to let Shuichi go, to hold him close, but on the other, he knew the young man's heart belonged to another and it would be wrong on his part. Shuichi was his best friend, and he didn't want to lose that with a foolish mistake. Plus he had to keep his mind on the band. Bad Luck needed them to give it their best!

They stood then, Shuichi still a little wobbly. He leaned up against Hiro and lightly clutched his shirt. The taller man looked down at him as he looked up, and he could feel his face tinge with pink. He found those wide eyes of Shuichi's to be so irresistible at times, and now was definitely one of them.

"Hiro…"

Gulp. His voice sounded so pleading to him it was almost hard to bear. No! He was just a little woozy from being knocked into! That wasn't lust or desire or anything in his voice, it was just him trying to be sure of his surroundings. Hiro had to keep reminding himself of that during those few short seconds right before, and as he leaned forward to capture Shuichi's lips with his own. Shuichi murmured softly and gazed up at his friend as Hiro leaned in more closing his eyes. Was this the true feeling Hiro had been bottling up all this time? He knew Hiro had liked him that way, but he wasn't sure if that was still how he felt since he had seen him with girls as well. Now he was more certain. As he gently kissed him back he couldn't help but feel bad because he knew his heart already belonged to Yuuki and he was betraying the love he had for him by letting himself kiss his best friend like this.

Lightly, Shuichi lifted his hands and placed them on Hiro's chest, pushing him away. As their lips parted he whispered, "I can't…"

Hiro looked down sulkily, "I know, I understand. I'm sorry…" With that, he slid his hands into his pockets, turned, and walked down the hall to get his guitar.

Shuichi hung his head as well. "I'm sorry too…. Hiro…"
