A/N: One shot. I had some inspiration this morning and just started writing with no clear direction, so I'm kind of surprised myself where this ended up. It's a quick piece of fluff of my favorite pair, Klaroline.

Disclaimer: I own none of these characters. Cover art not mine pulled from public images.

What a beast in love will do

He rips the door apart and enters the dark room. Anger radiates off of him, his eyes an eerie yellow with a hint of madness as he desperately searches for her. He roars, "CAROLINE."

In the distance, she hears him, tries to call out but no sound comes. She knows he's close, can feel him, his power. She struggles in vain to move, but her body isn't responding.

He tears through each room. He stops. He senses a presence all around him. He is not afraid. He smirks as his eyes deepen becoming impossibly golden. 'Finally, someone to murder," he growls.

They come at him from all angles. He mindlessly rips out hearts, heads, and throats. He wants blood, craves it. He methodically wipes the blood from his lips as his watches his last prey. "Where is she?" he calmly inquires "Tell me what I want to know and you just may live to see tomorrow."

The man standing looks around him and see's the bloody destruction that this man did. They said her rescuer would be ruthless but, his pack, they were cocky, overly confident. They were no match for him. When they took the job, no one said it was to go up against an original, much less THE original.

Klaus slowly walks towards the man sensing weakness. He despises weakness. He'll pay for what he's taken – NO ONE takes what is his. The man stumbles back as he sees Klaus approach. He stutters, "We didn't know who she was. We were paid to take her and told to kill whoever comes after her. We didn't know."

"Well then mate, that's your mistake," Klaus replies. "Now, I'll ask one more time, where is she?" With no response forthcoming, Klaus grabs the man, "No, nothing to say, perhaps you need incentive?" Klaus plunges his hand into the man's heart and starts to squeeze. The man buckles over in pain, he can't bear it. "Where is she?" Klaus yells.

"Over there," he points to the room across the hall "there…there's a latch on the floor," he stammers. "It leads to a room underground." The man looks at him imploringly, "It was just a job." Klaus has no mercy as he rips is heart out, "People really should make better choices about the jobs they take, stupid wolf." he thought.

He swooshes to the area the dead man indicated and rips the floor apart. He finds the latch and carefully makes his way down. He finally sees her. She's as still as death. He stops, listens, and takes a breath as he hears the erratic beat of her heart, "not dead", he gratefully thinks.

He gingerly picks up her up. She's been bitten, he notices. He sees the venom making its way through her body. He forces his blood down her throat. Moments later she starts to stir. "Klaus," she whispers. "I'm here, love," he says.

"They took me to get to you. I was careless. I wasn't paying attention like you showed me. I made it so easy, I'm sorry."

"Hush love, its okay. I took care of them. They won't be coming after you again. Whoever hired them will pay, that I promise, sweetheart. No one will ever harm you again," he softly proclaims.

She nuzzles into his neck as he carries her out of the crumbling building. Her spirits are picking back up as she starts to feel more like herself. "Klaus," she teasingly says "I want a beignet." "Whatever you want, sweetheart, whatever you want," he promises.

The End.

Hope you enjoyed it!
