I gestured with my arms in a slow sweeping motion as my brother cackled at my movements in an E-Z chair. "Even old New York was once new Amsterdam," I sang along, dancing. The music picked up again as I pounded my fists in time with the figures on the television.
The front door slammed as Bucky yelled, "I hear laughter!"
"Den!" my brother and I yelled back.
After some rustling, leather-clad footsteps jogged down the stairs. "Hey, guys, I got the-er, sweetheart, what are you doing?"
I fanned both my arms in perfect syncopation as the television sang, "She'll be waiting in Istanbul!" As my parrot avatar turned, I allowed my boyfriend a glance, "What does it look like? I'm dancing!"
Bucky raised his eyebrows at my brother as if to ask Is she serious? My brother only shrugged, barely muffling his laughter.
I finished with my arms and legs spread out in an "X" formation. As the screen tallied my score, I turned to Bucky, panting and sweating. "What?"
"Nothing!" they both said quickly.
I grinned as the game gave me the new score. "Look, I know I'm not the best dancer, but it's fun! Isn't that what vacation is for? Fun?"
Bucky smiled then kissed me on the forehead as my brother whispered, "Ugh." When Buck pulled back, he grimaced, noticing his lips had my sweat on it. He wiped off his lips then my forehead with the back of his sleeve, then tried again.
"You're right. That's why," he picked up the second Wii controller," we're going to try head-to-head." I grinned as he shrugged out of his leather jacket and boots.
I quickly scrolled through the song list. "This one?"
"Nicki Minaj versus One Direction?" He seemed surprised by my non-pop choice.
"With you as Nicki Minaj, of course."
He rolled his eyes, "Of course. But can you handle being a five-member boy band?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Oh you think I can't?" He smirked. "You're on."
I pressed start as the mash-up began. As we went through the different rounds, Bucky began to realize that I was winning.
"How are you so good at this game?"
Faintly in the background, I could hear the gunshots and my brother's yells from the Call of Duty game upstairs.
I swung my arms in a circle while moving to the left. "High School Musical dance tutorials."
He rolled his eyes. "I should've known."
At the end of the song, my avatar spun the Nicki avatar in his arms and kissed her. Before I knew it, Bucky had done the same to me. I blinked surprised. "Hope you don't mind I'm stealing your part," he winked before kissing me.
I smiled into the kiss before he pulled back, glancing at the screen. "Not at all. Especially since I won."
I grinned as he sighed at the screen of our tallied scores. "Fine. This Just Dance game can be your thing…as long as kissing you can be my thing."
I smiled, "I'm okay with that."
He returned the same expression before scrunching up his nose, "Okay, can you shower first? You're really sweaty."
"It's the sheen of victory, Bucky!"
He smiled but didn't move. So I sighed, "Okay. Okay." I turned to head up the stairs.
"Can I come with?"
"Of course."
He playfully threw me over his shoulder despite my surprised protests as he headed upstairs, gleefully humming Istanbul, not Constantinople to drown me out.
