Chuck Bass felt fluttering in the pit of his stomach, but it wasn't the butterflies he got from his wife, his Blair. This fluttering was guilt.
"What's this Henry?" He questioned taking the envelope from his ten-year old was pushing at him over breakfast
"Open it daddy!" He exclaimed nearly jumping out of his seat. Chuck quickly tore open the envelope revealing two Ranger hockey tickets, dated for the coming Saturday, right in the middle of his week-long business trip to Dubai.
"I bought them all by myself! Well mommy used her credit card but I gave her the money I saved from my allowance!" The child beamed his eyes nearly popping out of his head.
"Buddy, you should have asked me, I'm out of the country that night. But tell you what I'll pay you back for these." Chuck's phone buzzed, he was going to be late for a showing of a new property. "Look sorry, I got to go. I'll pick you up with Arthur today when you get out of school and we can go to lunch wherever you want." He kissed his head and headed for the door.
"Charles Bass what has gotten into you?" Blair seethed through the phone
"What did I do?"
"Well I have a very dejected ten-year old who has been slumped in the back of the limo for an hour refusing to leave until he sees his father who was supposed to bring him to lunch."
"Shit, let me talk to him please."
..."no dad it's fine I'm used to it. I'll eat with mommy. And I don't want the money for the tickets. Bye." He'd heard enough from his father, despite his efforts he always came second to work.
"I'll go with you sweetie." Blair offered running her fingers trough her son's head.
"I wanted daddy."
"It's always nice to do business with you Mr. Bass, you're just like your father, so dedicated."
"It's good to work with you too, but if we could maybe finish up the loose ends over the phone? There's another project I am very dedicated to that I have to be home for." The pit in his stomach at that comment was horrifying, he was turning into his father. He was on the Bass jet within the hour, he could still make the game.
Blair stood in her son's door way silently "that's all my father cared about was business, hen, and I know lately I have been all work but I need you to know that you will always be my number one you and your mother. I love you." He kissed his son's forehead, turned out the light and joined his wife in the hall way.
"Next time Henry asks to do something with me and I tell him no, you need to kick my ass."
"Oh I would have, but I knew you'd be back Bass. You're not your father. And now that you've bonded with our son, I think it's time you play with someone else you've neglected." She whispered seductively leading him into their bed room.
