Catching the smile that was thrown her way as she entered Angela smoothed her skirt, took a deep breath and walked to her friends table. They had been working out the details for weeks and she knew that with date approaching even the unflappable Temperance Brennan had to be freaking out. Hoping she was about to make the right call she slid into the booth across from one half of the soon to be married couple.
"Sweetie, how are you holding up with everything?" She asked, trying to buy herself some time before broaching the subject.
"As well as to be expected, I though handling most of the details with you would spare Booth some of the anxiety but I swear he's been bouncing off the walls all week," Brennan paused, a smile crossing her face at what she knew was the correct use of the popular phrase. "I had to send him and Lizzy out to the park for a walk just to be able to meet you here. So what is it exactly that you wanted to talk to me about?"
"Well you know we have most of the details set for Saturday right?"
"Yes, Ange. Caroline has received official permission to officiate and has our marriage license waiting. Jared will be taking Booth and Parker to pick up their suits later in the week and our dresses are already at your place. Sweets has the list of songs you requested we send him, and I assume he will be ready to go by Saturday-"
"Yeah about the song choices Bren," Angela interrupted figuring it was easier to jump right to the issue.
"Did something happen to the list, I can send Sweets another copy, that's hardly worth calling an emergency meeting over Ange."
"It's just that," Angela continued as though she hadn't been interrupted, "some of the choices are a little unusual Bren."
"It's our reception Ange, I think we get to make that call, Booth and I assembled the list together-"
"And he was okay with your choice for your first dance?" Angela asked, genuine surprise coloring her voice.
"While I'll admit the suggestion started as a joke, but we both agreed on it. We've more than once referred to it as our song over the course of our partnership. As such it plays to Booth's sense of sentimentality, and I just find it to be generally pleasing-"
"No! There is no way, no chance that as your best friend I can let you and Booth dance to 'Hot Blooded at your wedding." She finished with an eye roll; as if to prove how ridiculous she found her statement.
"But Angela it's our wedding, as much as it pains me to say it you don't get to make that call." Brennan said, the faintest hint of a smirk playing across her features.
"Oh my god you set me up didn't you?" Angela squealed, knowing full well her friend was unable to tell a lie.
"I guess you'll see on Saturday," Brennan laughed as she dropped a few bills on the table for their coffees. "Now I really do have to go Ange, before Booth buys Lizzy and ice cream or something else filled with ridiculous amounts of sugar that will do nothing but spoil her lunch." She stepped out of the café with a smile playing across her lips, leaving her best friends sputtering in her wake.
Angela on the other hand could only let out a sigh; it really was classic Booth and Brennan after all.
