Hey guys

I am back... I have been inactive for quite a while now, but I have finaly got a new story. I already wrote some chapters but stil have to work them over.

Here is the Prologue already. I know there are some mistakes in it, but I did my best;)

I will also continue writing the other storys.

Hopefully you can all overread my spelling mistakes.

I would love to hear what you think of it. This story will be about 10 chapters in the end. I already have an idea for a sequel, but i won't promise anything.

So have fun with the Prolog.

Prolog

«Team One. Hot Call. Shots fired at the grocery store on corner of West bridge and St. Simons" Winnie's voice called over the speaker.

"Gear up" Ed called out and they all hurried to get ready for their first hot call today.

"Any more Information?" Greg questioned Winnie on his way to the door.

"Apparently, a young man in his thirties, holding a woman hostage with a gun. No shots fired yet. A bystander called it in."

On Scene

As soon as the SUVs arrived on scene in front of the grocery store, everybody jumped into action.

Spike tried to get some Camera footage from inside the store, Greg tried to get some more information from the people who left the store when the gun was shown.

Sam scanned the area for a good Sierra position but couldn't find a good one. All the positions had either a bad angle or were too far away. He saw Ed scanning the area as well. A few weeks ago, he would have considered to give his input. But the past few weeks had changed that.

He joined the team about 2 months ago, from the first day on everyone had given him the cold shoulder, he didn't even know why. He realised after only a few days that team one was like a family and they treated each other like that. He knew he was placed in the team without them choosing him. So, he didn't expect to get a warm welcome, but he figured after 2 or 3 weeks they would warm up and maybe they would give him a chance and he could be part of team and their family. But apparently, that wasn't the case. It didn't get any better, it got worse. He didn't get the cold shoulder treatment anymore, instead it was more a form of mobbing.

He didn't feel wanted by the team. Everybody put him down every chance they got and they just ignored all the progress he made in the past few weeks. Couldn't they see that he was really trying?

The worst treatment he got from Ed. He always seems to question what Sam did, not trusting Sam at all. Ed's behaviour probably came from Patrick, a guy that used to be in the regular army when he was JTF-2. He probably said something to Ed, when he was here some weeks ago, yeah that was the reason that Ed didn't trust him. He couldn't really blame Ed, if he would hear that a teammate of his shot his best friend, he would probably not trust them either. Even his old unit mates didn't trust him after that. Not that he could blame them either.

Sam knew that he killed Matt. He was fully to blame for that. It only happened a few months ago, he still hadn't dealt with it properly. Every night he was tempted to end it all. To just eat the bullet of his gun and be over with it. But then he hears his father's voice: «Just a coward would take the easy way out, a real man fights and keeps going."

So, like every time he does what his father wants and just continues. You can't really call it living, because he just goes to work, then he sits at Matts grave for a few hours, sometimes with and sometimes without his gun, depending on his day and in the evening, he cries himself to sleep. His night is plagued with nightmares and he barley sleeps at all.

His only hope is that maybe Team One will start warming up to him so that he can at least work with them, because the only reason he didn't pull the trigger yet, is because he still has a little bit of hope left that the team will change their attitude. Even if he thinks he doesn't deserve to live his live or for them to be nice to him. They are all worth so much more than him, all of them good cops and they didn't kill any innocents or friends. He was the killer. But if he is a killer anyway he can be their sniper and protect them so that their family doesn't fall apart, even if they don't consider him a part of it. He isn't worth being a part of it anyway.

He was suddenly pulled from his thoughts when Ed grabbed his arm roughly and said: "Braddock, what are you sleeping on a call, that's low even for you. You are risking innocent lives."

Sam sighed" Sorry I am ready now."

"You better be sorry, we don't need a casualty because you're not focused. Get on to that building over there for a sniper perch. That's the only thing your good at anyway." Ed said in an annoyed voice. He didn't know what it was but Sam always seemed to make his job as a TL harder. Since Patrick had told him to watch his team mates back around Sam, he was being harder on Sam then he usually was on a rookie. At the beginning, he was just pissed off that he didn't get to choose his new teammate like usually and that the rookie was some shoot-first-don't-ask-question, cocky little army brat. He would have probably started to let down his wall and warming up to him, but then Patrick had come over and since then he couldn't stand Sam anymore and didn't give him any more chances. Deep inside he knew it was probably wrong and he should just ask Sam what Patrick meant, but he didn't really want to.

Sam was in his Sierra Position. He knew the position was bad, but it was the best he could do on this roof. He didn't have full view of the inside of the grocery shop, but he could see some of the inside.

"Sierra One in Position, subject in view" he stated into the mic.

He could see the man with the hostage against him and a gun pressed to her head.

After some negotiating with Greg he could clearly see when the subject went to red and started escalating.

As soon as Greg said "Scorpio" He took the shot and the subject went down.

After the shot, he stared at the dead man in the store. It was the first sniper shot from that distance since Matt. He was in a daze when he took the elevator back down where SIU took him for questioning.

At the barn:

The team was sitting in the briefing room waiting until Sam was back from SIU to start debrief. Ed was pacing around the room clearly angry about something. "Eddie what is it." Greg asked calmly. Ed looked at him and stopped pacing. "It just our Rookie, he zoned out for a few minutes at the scene and I am really angry. That is not supposed to happen on hot call, what if it happens again when he is supposed to take a shot and someone gets killed? I just can't stand that Sam is on our team, he can't even negotiate."

"I agree with Ed" Jules stated," he doesn't belong to our team. He just doesn't fit."

She got a round of agreement from the whole team.

"I know you don't like him, but we can't change that he is a member of our team. We have to adjust somehow, we can't continue like this. "Greg said with a sigh.

"He could just leave and go back to the army, that's where he belongs anyway!" Ed says annoyed.

"Probably he would be better off there, but that's not our place to decide." Greg answered.

They door opened and Sam walked in. "Hi, did you already start with debrief" Sam said with a light smile on his face, he was looking forward to debrief, he didn't mess anything up today.

The smile vanished when he saw the look on everyone's faces, something was up. As Ed approached him, clearly angry and about to dress him down, he automatically went into parade rest. It was a habit when someone was angry with him he always does that. He did it when his father dressed him down, in the army and now with Ed as well.

"You know what we tried this the nice way and it isn't working. Let's do it the hard way. The team is not the same anymore and it is all your fault." he said.

"Eddie don't" Greg pleaded, "just let it go."

" No I won't, this has been unsaid for too long. Sam why don't you just quit and leave. Nobody wants you here anyway, it would be best for all of us if you hand in your resignation. Everybody would be happier if you weren't around anymore. We don't even like you. Just leave and don't come back."

Everybody could see Sam's face going ashen and he just looked at Ed with big eyes.

Sam stood there, shocked that Ed was so blunt and the words hurt, a Lot. He felt a stabbing pain in his heart and then he couldn't breathe anymore.

When Ed was finished, nobody said anything.

Suddenly Sam realised that they all felt this way, he couldn't handle it anymore, so he turned and stormed out of the room.

Oh no, poor Sam, what have I done. I am so evil :0. It has to get bad first before it gets better...

I know the reason why Ed got angry was a bit far fetched. I didn't get any better ideas. I am open to suggestions...I did think about him accidently shooting someone but he is such a good sniper, so it wouldn't be logical.
