It had started long ago.

There'd been a level of admiration that slowly grew into the soft rush of a heart that had begun to fall.

He remembers the bickering years leading up to that and the playfulness of the good days though she'd never let him know before that she could have any kind of feelings for him of that magnitude; she was strictly platonic or as careful as she could be to be that way.

Shura had always treated Yukio a little more like an annoying little brother than a possible future boyfriend; she was playful and aloof though shown no real romantic interest in him.

Yukio remembers the first time that he'd tried to flirt with her and his inexperience left it all lost in some kind of translation.

"Hello, Shura. You look wonderful today." Perhaps it was the way she looked at him and laughed as if it were a sarcastic comment that made him wish to try again.

"I like it when you're happy." It fell flat to his real feelings for her.

None of those worked on her; she wasn't really one to fall for useless seeming pick up lines, so Yukio was left at sort of a stalemate before he would find some other way to win her over.

"Do you want to go out?" Had never been as terrifying of a thing to say as it was now despite the many years of friendship they'd had.

"Sure." She shrugged; her ponytailed hair fell around her shoulders and danced slightly on her back.

There was something unbelievably beautiful about that.

Yukio shifted, face flushed, before he proceeded to ask which days she was available.

It was nearly a relief to hear that she was available Saturday like he was; his relief was in part due to the fact that today was Tuesday, and that it gave him more time to prepare and try to work the nerves out of his system.

Yukio had never been the sort to stutter or make too obvious signs of being nervous though he'd never either fussed over what he had to wear.

Rin would surely tease him over this one day as he watched Yukio move around their shared dorm as he picked up different clothes before deciding to go a little more casual in style though not quite casual.

Shura would likely wear something comfortable, so Yukio figured that he should wear something similar.

He wore a black button up shirt and a pair of black slacks as they fit his frame nicely, and he was more comfortable wearing formal like attire.

Yukio stared down at his shiny, much newer shoes than he'd probably admit to as he tried to remember if he'd forgotten anything else.

"You're going on a date with Shura?" Rin asked, watching his younger twin brother shift nervously in front of him.

"Yes, I am." Yukio tried to ignore the fact that there had been a little bit of a nervous bite against his words.

Rin nodded and lounged comfortably on his bed and continued to watch Yukio shift far too much, "Calm down." Rin sighed.

"I am perfectly calm." Yukio muttered despite knowing better than to say that and tried to ignore Rin's snickers.

Seeing Shura today felt more powerful than any other moment; all Yukio could see was the way her shirt fit a little tightly across her frame and the way her skirt that she'd opted for instead of a pair of shorts made her legs look long and nearly effeminate.

His mouth had dried up at the sight of her hair left loose in soft waves around her shoulders and back.

It made Yukio wonder briefly what it would feel like to brush his fingers through that hair, trace down the steps of the waves.

Yukio gulped back the images and turned back to his date before smiling ever so slightly and asking her to lead the way.

Shura smiled back at him, and it felt as if she were silently teasing him again, leaving his mind a half muddled mess.

Yukio though was thankful after the mostly silent walk to arrive at the restaurant and be surrounded by more people; it felt less suffocating, less like he was getting lost in this whole new territory by her side.

He turned to focus on her as they followed the waitress to the table and couldn't help pulling out Shura's chair for her and pushing her chair back up to the table once she'd sat down.

Yukio only felt the briefest hint of ideas for conversations as he nervously asked her what she'd like to order before he heard her chuckle.

Shura smiled at him the way only she could, both patronizing and teasing, before she finally demanded a better topic.

He asked her how her last mission had went before she rolled her eyes and spoke up clearly, "How long have you been planning to ask me out?" She playfully sent him a wink as if she'd known for the longest time that he'd wanted to ask her out.

"For a little while." Yukio admitted, "Just the past few months."
Shura grinned mischievously, "How long have you 'liked' me?" She asked.

Yukio couldn't bring himself to answer as Shura stared him down before rolling her eyes, "Fine, don't tell me."
Shura shrugged before she went back to studying the menu and ordered a beer to drink as she watched Yukio order a water.

She smiled bemusedly, "So you'll be drinking water tonight?" She knew that he was underage but could not resist the option of teasing him.

"I will." She watched as he swallowed a little nervously and wondered what part of their date set his nerves on edge; he'd been acting a little differently around her lately than normal too.

"Are you sure that you don't want to spice it up any?" She winked, feeling the excitement of teasing him whip through her veins.

"Y-Yes." He answered her, tensing up which was no fun at all.

"Do you want to try some of my beer?" She offered it to him, watching his eyes catching the smallest fraction of their widening before he looked away from it and denied the option of tasting it.

"So Yukio, what's the matter?" She couldn't resist asking, watching the slightest hints of him tensing up probably out of nerves.

"N-Nothing." Yukio shrugged it off, releasing the nerves as best as he could in one fluid moment until he focused back on her again and decided to steer the topic back to their latest missions and assignments.

It grew boring to Shura as it began to feel like a business meeting instead of a lighthearted outing let alone a date.

She smirked as she continued drinking her beer before she finally decided their evening in the restaurant was over, let him pay since he'd probably insist anyway, and leaned a little heavily on his shoulders.

Shura liked the slight spike in Yukio's breathing and the barest hint of a flush to his skin as she leaned closer to him and whispered what mostly seemed like drunken words and phrases; perhaps it would give him a hint of what she'd prefer in a date, a little more fun and a lot less business.

She figured that this was probably his first date too since she hadn't heard of any other girl before her and wished that he would have gotten riled up like he usually did around her during their date or talked a lot less business.

Shura smiled when she felt Yukio steer her towards her apartment and finally gave up leaning on him and pretending to be drunker than she was when he went to drop her off and leave; she leaned forward and finally kissed him, letting her lips silence his nearly silent goodnight that danced on his tongue.

She smirked when she pulled back and watched the way he stared at her surprised, "If we do this again, skip the business talk." She winked before vanishing behind the door and hoping that he'd understand that well by the next time they went out together as she did want to go out with him again despite how boring their date had seemed to her.

Shura did like him enough to have agreed to the date to begin with, so she definitely was looking forward to a far better date in the future.
