The word passed through his mind; distant, yet apparent. Who was it coming from? Where was it coming from? Was it all in his head?
"Griffin"
The word again. This time it was real, clawing through the hazy darkness of his mind, calling him. But what did it mean?
"Griffin"
A bright crack of light, now fading into an unimaginabely bright glow. In the midst of it, he saw a dark figure. Was this heaven? No, it couldn't be. This was not a voice of angelic origin. It was coarse and demanding. Wait, other voices.
"Life signs stabilizing. Heart rate returning to normal." He could now hear the beeping and whirring of various machines, as well as feel the prescence of people. Then the voice spoke again.
"Welcome to the world of the living, Griffin."

Griffin was a meta-human, or a meta-creation at the very least. His parents had not had super powers seeing as he had no parents. He was a artificial human, created under the close supervision of bio-engineering specialists. His designation was AC37, Artificial Creation number 37. His 36 predecessors had all died from lack of knowledge on how to engineer a human. Each failure made the next one slightly more promising, though.
When the team in charge of the Artificial Creation successfully created a suitable specimen, they cryo-froze it until their technology could catch upto their desired result: a cyborg. Not just a cyborg though, a growing cyborg. His mechanical parts would evolve as he did. Now that they had the ability to accomplish this, their creation, their griffin, would now rise from the ashes.

With their technology situation out of the way, they began planning on how to make a creatur like this without causing something detrimental. In a word, Brainiac. To make him human, they needed to give him a personality, feelings, a heart. That would be the only way to keep him from forming a god complex. They had planned to teach him as an infant in a young man's body. unfortunately, his programming passed his knowledge. Now their research facility was resting in pieces, as were the scientests who created his, as their creation searched for answers.
