The vampire stared at the gravestone of his deceased beloved.

She had been gone for fifty-three days now and everyday, he missed her more. He had tried to keep his promise to protect Dawn, but he still blamed himself for her death and the pain... it was... unbearable, to say the least.

Spike knelt down ran his hand over the soil covering her coffin. His eyes began to tear up and he knew that, as a vampire, he shouldn't cry so often, especially for the Slayer. Dawn had told him that, she also reminded him daily and nightly that he used to be the one who said things like 'the past is the past' or 'you can't change the past.'

"I'm sorry, love."

BUFFY ANNE SUMMERS
1981-2001
BELOVED SISTER.
DEVOTED FRIEND.
SHE SAVED THE WORLD
A LOT.

His tears began anew as he read the engraving again.

"Saving the world, huh? That's why you aren't here, anymore. I miss you, you know? 'Cause I did love you... still do."

William laughed bitterly. "Oh, but how could a soulless creature like me even care. Did you think of me as a demon? Just your everyday monster, right? I tried to be good, Buffy..." He choked back a sob when he mentioned her name.

"You were so beautiful... so fucking beautiful. God, why did you jump?"

He almost waited for a reply before continuing, "Oh, yeah, that's right.... You were saving the world again, from that Hell-bitch Glory. I should have been able to stop them, if I had made sure Doc was dead, he wouldn't have had the chance to hurt the Niblet."

"Buffy... slayer... you were so strong... so young." Tears poured down his cheeks as he remembered her more clearly.

Then, he remembered the kiss she had given him for not telling Glory about Dawn. It had been so different from the kisses they had shared while they were under Willow's spell... this little 'thank you kiss' had been sweet and a little... loving? Buffy's lips tasted differently than the bot and he knew was a fool for ever thinking the Buffybot could even compare to the real thing.

"You shouldn't have died... I know you'd say it wasn't, but... I feel like it's my fault you died... I caused my third slayer to die." Spike imagined her... her golden hair... beautiful face... sweet lips... her petit, muscled figure.....

Then, she appeared.

She was sitting on her own gravestone, arms crossed over her chest. Honestly looking like the purest angel from heaven. He stared at her. Was this some kind of joke? An illusion from the Powers That Be?

Spike had to say something finally, "Buffy?"

She chuckled softly. "Of course it's me."

He was so happy to see her, but why *was* she here? "Aren't you... dead?" he asked quietly.

She stood up and her long white dress flowed freely, blowing in the slight wind. She was literally glowing. "I'll always be alive. Unless you stop."

"But, I'm already dead, love."

She walked over to him and looked deeply into his eyes, "Your love isn't." Then, she reached up and gently brushed her lips against his. "I have to go, William. I love you."

Her last three words were whispered and drifted off as she disappeared with the wind.
