What are we?
Rebels.
Out here, we don't get much sun, much air. It's easy to go insane. Easier than you'd think.
What are we?
Rogues.
Down here, everyone's a soldier, a thief, a scoundrel. We have no place for useless people. If you have survived, you are worth something. You have a purpose.
What are we?
Renegades.
They should have killed us when they had the chance. Instead, they pushed us underground. We fester here, like a wound. But we are ready.
What are we?
Inevitable.
We are inevitable.
We always were.
Now she felt just like a stranger.
She didn't sleep at all anymore. Not since the war had ended.
And the arms that used to hold her, well, now they'd done her harm.
And she felt just like a murderer, gunpowder sparking in her veins. She'd spent too long, shaking in the hands of somebody who'd finally had enough, and as she stepped out onto solid ground for the first time in a thousand days, no one to find her or recognise, her black heels kicked out the beat of her heart in perfect time.
The crew of the Gienah are some of the lowest of the low. Mercenaries and scavengers and bounty hunters, they make a meagre living preying on the weak and vulnerable and screwing one another over at every opportunity presented to them.
When they find an old ship cast adrift in Reaver territory, abandoned and stripped of everything of worth, they're not inclined to think too much about it - except they find a girl on board. A girl the Alliance, and the rest of the verse, is extremely interested in. A valuable girl.
Honour among thieves?
Hardly.
I had this idea for a story and thought it would be perfect as a Firefly SYOC, which I haven't seen before! If this exists already, please forgive me - I haven't encountered it.
Set seven years after the end of the series, this story will focus on a crew of ne'er-do-well OCs who find themselves on the run from everyone and everything in the Verse as they try to figure out how best to exploit a strange girl they found in an abandoned station. I'm looking for between five and eight characters for main roles, with capacity for others in smaller roles.
My rules are very few: no perfect, Mary Sue characters; no copy of canon characters; you may submit one male and one female character. To show you have agreed with these rules, please PM the following, filled out submission form with your character's "theme song" as the subject line. Only PM'd forms will be considered.
