She awoke to the sound of rain hitting the window, and thunder somewhere in the distance, the air thick with humidity. It took her a moment to remember where she was. She vaguely remembered the sound of his voice lulling her to sleep, the feeling of wanting to respond, but unable to garner the energy to speak. She remembered laying her head against the back of the couch and finally giving in to sleep.

She sat up and saw that she was covered with the blanket he kept on the couch. It was much too hot for it now, and for the street clothes she still wore.

Turning on a small light in the living room, she made her way quietly through his bedroom to the bathroom. Before she closed the bathroom door behind her, she took a peek at him on the bed. Sound asleep.

She looked around the room and finally found one of his denim shirts on the hook befind the door. She slipped out of her clothes and removed her bra and hose. As she slipped on his shirt she couldn't help but smile at her refection in the mirror. It was miles too big on her, but it would be a lot more comfortable to sleep in. She held it to her face and breathed in his scent.

She made her way quietly through his room, but stopped when she heard his voice.

"Hey."

She turned to see him propped up on one elbow.

"You okay?"

"I'm okay."

He smiles. "You look good in my shirt."

"Thanks. I um, I...I'm sorrry I woke you up. I was hot and I needed to find something to put on. I hope you don't mind..."

"Mind? No. I like that look on you."

She laughed softly, feeling naked in front of him. Something about the way he was looking at her. "Thanks. I'll let you go back to sleep." She turned to leave the room and he called out to her.

"Scully..." Something about the soft, seductive sound of his voice made her think about the song he had been playing earlier, and though she didn't remember really listening then, the words came back to her now, "Speak to me baby in the middle of the night...."

She turned back, her heart pounding, because instinctively she knew. Knew what he was going to say.

"Stay with me..."

She looked into his eyes for a long moment, neither of them willing to break the gaze, the look speaking volumes.

He reached out his hand to her. "Please..."

She reached out her hand and felt his wrap around it, warm, strong, confident.
