The mirror cracked, now inky black-
It dared not meet her eye
And so she roared, compelled to scream,
Or else compelled to cry.
"What once was Luna is no more!
I am the Nightmare Queen;
The deepest pain, the deepest fear,
Such horrors I have seen
"And never once a word of thanks
For those I drive away,
On no, they save their love and praise
For white the light of day.
"You shun the stars, you shun the moon,
You hate all that I love,
And now as I look down on you
From silver moon above
"I'll let resentment eat my heart.
Why ever should I not?
You sent me, sister, here to rot
Though many years we fought
"The evils side by side, without
A word you banished me
And here I shall remain, but mark
My words I shall be free-
"Oh we shall meet again, and you
Shall pay for what you've done.
A thousand years I'll wait but you,
Though free, you have not won.
"One day I shall rebuke these chains
And cast your curse aside
Then reign my hatred from above.
Then you'll, my dear, abide
"In black this prison cold as hell
Where devils comb my mane.
You'll watch me spread my cobalt wings
Across the land and reign.
"The darkness, only friend of mine,
Shall pass with me the years
And it, you know, is rage, not pain
That brings to me these tears.
"I'll wait in chains, oh sister dear,
And someday you will pay-
And drown in black, consumed just as
The night consumes the day!"
They combed the hate into her coat,
The devils, laughing, cruel-
So one great sister of the sky,
But which, has played the fool?
