Author's Ramble:   Hey, everyone.  I was rewatching "The Toad, the Witch, and The Wardrobe" the other day and when Toad said (at the end) "I'm my own worst enemy" I was reminded of this song ("Don't let me get me" by "Pink" that I kept hearing everywhere.  And so I set out to look for the lyrics and try to make a Toad song out of it.  And here it is!  And, I know what you're going to say.  You can't really see Toad saying "self-defeating" (as well as other things), but let's just pretend he knows what it means, and can actually talk like that.  ^_^  (Sorry Toad :P).  Okay then, on with the angst!

Disclaimer:  I disclaim all ownership of the original song.  And Toad, too.

"I just don't get me"

Never won a fight, I'm no help to the team
I have no direction, and I'm hardly ever clean (though by choice ;)
Teachers despised me, my parents disowned me
I always got a beatin' for gettin' caught stealin'

Everyday there's a battle inside of my head
I can't take the person livin' in there
I'm a curse upon myself

I just don't get me
I'm my own worst enemy
It stinks when you can't help yourself
So self-defeatin'
Don't wanna be "the Toad" no more
I wanna be somebody else
I wanna be somebody else, yo

Wanda told me, "Only chance you've got,
For bein' with me is to be someone you're not."
Tired of bein' called a "worthless slimeball"
Even though it's true, still hurts like poo

Forgie, Forgie can't you please invent me somethin'
A way to become someone else?
'Cause I'm a curse upon myself

(Chorus): I just don't get me
I'm my own worst enemy
It stinks when you can't help yourself
So self-defeatin'
Don't wanna be "the Toad" no more
I wanna be somebody else

(Repeat Chorus)

So Forgie, Forgie can't you please invent me somethin'
A way to become someone else?
I just don't get me

I'm a curse upon myself

(Repeat Chorus)

Well, there ya go.  Hope ya liked it.  Tried to find a good substitution for "Don't let me get me".  "Nobody gets me" (as in no one understands me, for those who may not get that ;) was my first choice but didn't fit in with the self-enemy theme.   "I don't get me" seemed to work well, so I just used that. :)
