AN: I thought this would be an interesting one shot to write. It super short!
I don't own Yu-gi-oh.
For generations, the tomb keepers had been waiting to guide the pharaoh to the afterlife. But after centuries of preparation, it all took place before Ishizu's eyes. With her brothers, Odion and Marik, Seto Kaiba, and Yugi's caring friends, beside her, she witnessed the duel of all time.
With pain and hope in her heart, she watched every strategic move made by the Pharaoh and Yugi. Ishizu knew Yugi must win, but the duel changed every turn as the tides of the Nile. The Pharaoh had great will, drawing any card of desire, but Yugi had much heart, and Ishizu had faith in him. Each move was more surprising then the next, but duel was soon coming to the end.
But with Pharaoh's will, he drew the one card he and Yugi both loved.
DARK MAGICIAN!
Ishizu held her breath, as her eyes laid upon the tall figure. His stern face softened her heart and sent numbness through her limbs. Ishizu didn't know why her knees became weak when she looked into his deep amethyst eyes. She didn't why her heart had a pang sorrow as he just stood there.
It was one of Yugi's most precious monsters, but it was more than that to her.
Faint memories flooded into Ishizu's head and her heart swelled with emotions.
Please, Mahad, you mustn't go. It is too dangerous.
No, Isis. It is my duty to protect the Pharaoh, and I must do what has to be done, no matter the consequences.
What about the promise you made to me? What about us staying together for eternity? Tears began to fall from Isis's ocean blue eyes.
I'm sorry Isis, and please do not cry—
Do not tell me to not cry!
Isis, please, I—
No! I care for the Pharaoh, just as much as you do. I know it's your duty to go and fight Bakura. I know you are willing to die for him. I understand, but do you know how hard it is for me? I must sit here, Mahad, and wait, wait for what fate brings, and with the fogginess of the Millennium Tauk, I am scared, Mahad. I am petrified of losing you, just as I am petrified of losing my Pharaoh. Isis broke into heavier tears.
Isis, Mahad held her chin up and gazed into her eyes, I love you. You mean the world to me, and I would give anything for you to be happy. I know how much it will hurt, but you are strong. And as High Priestess, I know that you would do the same in my position. This is my duty. Mahad held her in his arms tightly and Isis laid her head upon his shoulder.
I know, Mahad. I know it's your job to protect the pharaoh, as it is with mine.
They smiled and released each other from their grasps. Mahad stared into Isis's eyes and nodded. But as he turned to walk away, Isis grabbed his arm. You will come back, Mahad. I have seen it.
Mahad smiled and went off to fight Bakura, leaving Isis behind. A tear ran down her cheek, as she saw Mahad's fate before her.
These memories, Ishizu did not know. It was a mystery to her, just a lingering past memory.
But as Ishizu stood there, she was once again stunned, when Dark Magician glanced at her and nodded. He then whispered, as if for only her to hear, "I have come back."
