She couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned in her bed, the soft fabric of her nightgown restricting her movements.
Her whole body was tense and she felt a sudden ache in her heart when the screams of ecstasy echoed through the house. The walls could only protect her so much, but what did she really need protection from?
She was conjuring up fantasies and making them real for almost anyone.
Yet the one which would make her complete was out of her reach.
Her darkest desires floated to the surface of her fragile veneer and she was overwhelmed by their intensity, the force with which they have overtaken her mind, body and soul.
In her wildest dreams, she had not believed to be lost in someone to a point where she wasn't even sure when she ended and he began.
To the point where her life has lost its sense and would only regain it by his presence. Where the burning desire in her heart could only be extinguished by one person.
Then again, she had not relied on meeting Gil Grissom.

He was restless. He'd been lying in bed for hours, but sleep eluded him.
He had tried to read but no words were making sense to him. Unfinished crossword laid on the night table, taunting him to complete it, but he promptly ignored it.
Several stars were peaking out from the clouds and the blackness of the sky reflected the hollowness in his heart.
A piece of him was missing. The one piece that she had taken from him, without asking, without even realising the consequences.
He had missed her touch. The feel of her skin against his.
How she had called out his name, as he allowed himself to love her, even for those precious few moments.
There was nothing he could do. The dull ache in his chest only confirmed what he had known all along.
Heather had been the one for him.
