Salvation
This was written as a small drabble, not meant to be too serious. It was a small idea I had at work that I fleshed out into a short drabble, so I hope you enjoy, and depending on whether other ideas hit me, I may continue to add more Reylo drabbles.
Ben Solo bolted upright in a sweat gasping for air, panic seizing him leaving his eyes wide as they darted to and fro. The darkness, it suffocated him. Knocking over every item on the nightstand in his haste, he found the switch lighting up the small bedroom.
The darkness, it called to him in his dreams, haunting him, taunting him of his past sins, always showing him the death of his father, the soft plead in his eyes, the hollowness that followed as the life bled out of his body.
There were so many hollow eyes in his dreams, so many who were and never will be. His hands were tainted with the blood of so many innocents.
Bringing the heels of his hands to his eyes, Ben Solo dug them into his eyes to will the tears forming in his eyes from falling. Ben Solo did not deserve tears.
Beside him a slight figure stirred turning so that she faced the brooding man.
"Ben?"
Her voice was soft, heavy with sleep.
Ben didn't answer her. She was too good, too pure to be tainted by someone like him, someone so dark, a monster.
"Ben, you alright?"
Ben didn't answer her. He felt her sit up laying a small warm hand on his arm.
"Ben?"
She gently probed his mind through their Force Bond asking him to open up to her, to let her in.
How could he? How could he let someone so good into his life, let her see him so broken?
Ben barely noticed the girl huff and mutter under her breath. "You silly man."
He felt her soft hands cup his cheeks and turn his head so that she could look straight into his eyes. She was bathed in the aura of her light, a warm haze surrounding her. Warm tendrils of her light flickered over him as she brought his lips down to meet hers.
Ben welcomed the warmth feeling it seep into the deepest corners of his soul chasing away the cold that settled there. He thirsted for her goodness, her innocence. Her hands tangled themselves in his hair gently tugging his head towards her.
His arms snaked around her waist pulling her close, tightly weaving themselves around her. Her light washed over him shaking away the last wisps of his nightmares.
The girl pulled away, just enough so that she could rest her deep brown eyes on his own dark, coal colored eyes.
"You still have a lot of good left in you, Ben Solo."
She cupped his cheek and caressed the rough skin with her thumb.
"Don't you ever forget that."
Never in a million years would Ben Solo have believed the little scavenger girl from Jakku would quiet the storm inside his soul. Never would he have a believed he would find redemption in someone so good.
Rey, the child of light, his salvation.
"I love you. Now can we go back to bed, please? It's too kriffing early."
Ben smiled and let the darkness of the night settle over the room again.
What would he do without his little scavenger girl?
