Sheldon was in the zone when Amy came home late one night.
Amy was feeling extra playful. It's been three weeks since they've done "the deed" and she bought some new lingerie to show to her husband.
Unfortunately, her plan isn't going too well.
"Hey, Sheldon." She greeted as she walked into their living room with Sheldon completely emorsed in his work.
He didn't even look at her direction when he heard her come in.
Amy frowned. She knew that Sheldon is busy finishing up details about their paper but it's Friday night for crying out loud! Surely he can spare some time for her?
She dropped her bag at the kitchen counter, and walked over to him. Wrapping her arms around his neck from behind, she kissed his cheek.
"Good evening, Sheldon. How was your day?" she asked with a seductive tone.
"Fine." he replied coldly.
Feeling annoyed, Amy let go of him.
She hasn't eaten dinner yet, and wondered if she could cook Sheldon's favorite food — spaghetti with hotdogs.
"Have you eaten dinner?" she asked him, while starting to prepare the food.
"Yes. I already ate with Leonard and Penny earlier." Sheldon replied, still typing away on his keyboard. Still not looking at Amy ever since she came home a few minutes ago.
"Oh."
Feeling defeated, she decided to just have pizza delivered. She lost her mood of ever trying to have coitus with her husband tonight. Maybe even this week!
If he doesn't want it, then I'll make him want it.
After eating dinner, with Sheldon still typing away furiously on his laptop, doing a hell of a job ignoring her, Amy started getting ready for bed.
"I'm going to bed Sheldon. I know you're busy so I won't wait for you."
"Okay."
Amy sighed. She hoped Sheldon would've improved his "people skills" after they got married. She hoped he would've been sweeter. She knows and understands him, and loves him deeply no matter what. She just wishes that sometimes he can take a hint. Sometimes she wonders if Sheldon even wants her. Like really wants her.
Sometimes she doubts herself that maybe Sheldon just married her because he didn't want to be hurt.
That maybe he was just guilty of kissing another woman.
But she knows that's not the case.
She's just so insecure about her looks. About herself.
And her husband's a sex on a stick! She still wonders why he chose her over so many attractive women, even scientists!
She thought about Bernadette, she's super cute and has huge bosoms. But her? She's kind of on the heavier side and doesn't have that huge bosoms – unlike Bernadette or Penny.
She hated herself for making herself feel bad.
Battling her thoughts, she tried to get some sleep.
Still bothered that Sheldon's not in bed, she tried to ignore the feeling that the bed's cold without him.
It feels empty. She feels empty.
She tried to stop her tears, but to no avail.
Only the sounds of Amy's sniffled cries got Sheldon out of the zone.
Even with Amy in the bedroom, her crying is the one thing that Sheldon will always recognize. Not because Amy always cries, but because he hates the sound of it when she does. He feels hurt when Amy is hurt.
He rushed to the bedroom, carefully opening the door.
He saw Amy facing the other way, curled up, but it's evident from her back slightly shaking that she's been crying.
"Amy? What's wrong? Are you crying? Is it that time of the month again?"
"It's nothing, Sheldon. It's silly. Go back to whatever you've been doing. I'm fine."
Sheldon is confused. He knows from Leonard that when women says they're fine, they're actually not.
So he debated whether to give Amy some time, or comfort her.
He decided to give her some time. He didn't want to risk them fighting as he really had to finish up his work since it's Friday. So he closed the door gently, and went back to his work.
This hurt Amy more.
Why did I have to be so stupid to tell him I'm fine? I'm not fine. I want him here, I need him.
This only made her cry more. She tried her best to be quiet as she didn't want to bother Sheldon. She knows work is important to him.
Sheldon didn't hear her cries after he went back to work as he wore his headphones while listening to a lecture so that he can take notes to improve their paper.
After minutes of crying, Amy washed her face. She felt tired and instantly fell asleep.
