"Blaise, I have a dilemma."
"What now?" the darker boy asked before taking a sip of his brandy.
"My father wants me to take the mark. In fact, I believe he had been ordered to bring me forth as a sign of his continued loyalty," the blonde explained.
Blaise would have gaped had not been for his Slytherin upbringing. "You realize I will soon be in the same position, correct?" At Draco's nod, he continued, "How do you know it is safe to tell me?"
"We declared ourselves bestest friends when we were three. If I couldn't tell you, I couldn't tell anyone. Also, I didn't say what exactly my dilemma was. I may have needed advice on what to wear to the ceremony. You should really stop making assumptions, Blaise; it could get you into trouble one day." Draco held his nose in the air with a smug look on his face.
"Because you always ask for advice on clothes. Perhaps if you did, people wouldn't mistake you for a nancy." Draco merely laughed at Blaise's usual insult.
"Yes, that's why they call me the Slytherin Sex God. Because I look like a nancy." Before Blaise could continue the sparring match, Draco returned to the original topic. "Don't get me wrong, fighting with Potter is the highlight of every day. But if I kill him, I won't get to fight with him anymore. Even if I don't personally kill him, I would still be guilty by association if I have the mark. I like the 'bad boy' image, but I would not survive Azkaban."
"I think you've got worse problems than whether or not to take the mark," Blaise drawled, secretly excited about where he was taking this conversation.
"Like what?" Draco wondered what Blaise could consider more important than defying the Dark Lord.
"You were pretty pissed when he rejected your friendship in first year and ever since it has been one thing after another, all of it textbook attention seeking behavior." Blaise paused for dramatic effect. "I think you like Potter."
For owluvr's "Word Count Drabble Challenge 2". Loosely based on the song "Jesse James" by Clay Walker. Nothing belongs to me.
