"Yes," echoed the voice of Lord MacMillan through the Wizengamot chambers as he voted in favour of the proposed bill.

Lord Sirius Black growled in frustration as he angrily scratched a line on the 'Yes' half of the parchment that he was keeping the tally of votes on. "One more yes and the bill is passed," said Sirius to Lord James Potter sitting beside him in a furious whisper.

"Lord Lucius Malfoy," the court scribe called out the next name on the roll for the voting.

"Great! Malfoy! Here goes our last chance of not passing this bill," said Sirius angrily. James just shook his head solemnly at the words of his friend feeling defeated.

A bill was on vote in the Wizengamot today that if passed would badly affect the lives of the werewolves; turning their already harsh and difficult lives harsher and more difficult. James and Sirius and other lords who believed that werewolves weren't the pestilent creatures that they were portrayed as and deserved better from the wizarding world were vehemently against this bill and had tried to curry enough votes to ensure that this bill didn't pass but had little to no success as was evident now as the Wizengamot voted on it.

Malfoy was grinning evilly aware that a 'Yes' from him and the bill is passed but before he could cast his vote, the doors of the Wizengamot burst open. A dishevelled wizard in Auror robes stepped through it.

"I hope you have a good reason to interrupt a Wizengamot session, Auror Cooper," said Dumbledore, the Chief Warlock, admonishingly.

"There's an urgent message for Lord Malfoy from St. Mungo's, Chief Warlock sir," said Cooper panting heavily as if he had ran the entire way.

"What is it?" demanded Malfoy.

"It's your son, Lord Malfoy. They have just brought him in. He had been bitten by a werewolf. The healers say he is in bad shape," said Cooper hurriedly.

Malfoy had gone pale like the spoiled milk, all colour drained from his face. On shaky legs, he descended the stairs of the Wizengamot towards the exit.

"Wait Lord Malfoy," said Lord Greengrass loudly over the conversations that had broken out after the words of Cooper, "You must vote before you leave."

"Didn't you hear Cooper, Lord Greengrass," sneered Malfoy his displeasure at the interruption dripping from his words ,"I'm not off on a pleasure stroll. The vote can wait."

"The vote cannot wait and will not wait. The rules of the Wizengamot is clear on this," said Lord Greengrass strongly," If you do not vote your vote shall be recorded as abstention and even if all others vote 'No' the healers at St. Mungo's will be able to do little to help young Draco unless they are willing to become fugitives from law."

Malfoy angrily greeted his teeth as the words of Greenrass sunk in, piercing like a thousand nails.

"No," said Malfoy his voice barely a whisper, ringing in the silence in the aftermath of the words of Greengrass.

"Hooray!" whooped Sirius in joy as the words left the lips of Malfoy and pulled James in a hug who happily hugged his best friend back.

Malfoy glared hatefully at the celebrating duo and left hissing angrily. Cooper followed after him.

The doors of the Wizengamot chambers closed shut and the voting resumed. The fate of the bill though was sealed. The bill will not be passed; not now when the biggest proponent of the bill had to vote against it. His other stooges will follow his lead and vote similarly.

Soon, the rest of the votes were cast and counted.

"The bill is not passed," announced Dumbledore, officially proclaiming the fate of the bill.

With the final bang of the gravel, the session was adjourned.

"That was great. Never in a million years I would have thought that something like this could happen. Malfoy himself had to vote against the bill. Did you see the look on his face when he had to say 'No'," gushed Sirius excitedly as they filled out of the chamber, "That should teach Malfoy. His own son a werewolf. Not that I would wish that fate upon anyone but still it did stop the bill from passing." Sirius wind down a little.

Lily joined Sirius and James as she descended the stairs from the visitor's gallery.

"I believe congratulations are in order," said Lily contemplatively as she fell in step beside the duo.

"You do not sound very happy, love" said James.

"No, I'm happy. If the bill had passed it would have made life for Remus and others like him that much more difficult and I'm happy that it did not. It's just that all that happened today appears too convenient almost -

- as if it all were pre-planned," put in Dumbledore as he joined the lot in the lift.

"Exactly, Albus," ejaculated Lily.

"Not to mention that no werewolf will dare attack the Malfoy scion and yet one did. There's definitely more to all this than meets the eye," continued Dumbledore.

"If it is indeed so then whoever he is he must be one heck of a wizard," said James wildly.

"But who can he be, Albus? Is he someone on the Wizengamot?" asked Lily trying to come to a conclusion.

"Probably. Whoever he is he is well connected. He couldn't have orchestrated the events of today without help. His connections though doesn't just extend to the Wizengamot members but far beyond that. For someone who is not on Wizengamot to have such connections is difficult but certainly not impossible," said Dumbledore.

"Should we be wary of him, professor?" said Sirius worriedly.

"Seeing how he used his connections to ensure that the bill against the werewolves doesn't pass, not necessarily. Yet, his ways to achieve his means worry me a little; to plan a werewolf attack on Draco is no joke. Nevertheless, we must reach out to this man before Voldemort does for he surely will after he learns of today's events. Put your ears to the ground and try to listen for any unusual activities. Send words to others as well. We will meet in three days time," said Dumbledore.

"The atrium" said the cool female voice and the golden grills slid open showing a distant glimpse of the golden statues in the fountain.

The lot stepped out.

"All said, don't let the thoughts of this mystery man worry you just yet. Do celebrate. I dare say Remus will need it. He had been under the weather ever since the words of this bill had surfaced," said Dumbledore jovially his eyes twinkling.

"Oh! We will professor. Won't you be joining us?" said Sirius, all worry shed.

"Afraid not, gents. Do give Remus my best. Until next time. Farewell," said Dumbledore as he walked towards a fireplace to floo out.

Sirius, James and Lily walked towards another talking animatedly.
