It started when
All I could see
and hear
Were the sounds of others
like myself.
It was my life.
Barking.
Sniffling.
Eating.
Sleeping everyday.
One day though.
I was finally taken
The metal cage was
No more.
I was taken into a truck.
It rolled for a long time.
Finally...
We stopped.
There was sand.
Sand everywhere.
Metal buildings.
It was scary
There were humans everywhere.
Thundering footsteps.
My hackles raised.
Time passes.
Nothing interesting has happened.
Until.
I hear something in the sky.
On my leash.
I run outside.
A metal blue bird.
Like the humans use.
It is circling.
It flies out of my sight.
Minutes pass.
Then I hear another thing.
Something.
Something I have never heard before.
Footsteps.
BIG footsteps.
I remember fear.
But for some reason,
I felt calm.
Eventually, the footsteps
came closer.
And I saw it.
A metal blue man
Taller than any of the buildings.
Wings like an eagle.
I look up.
He looks down.
A human walks by.
They undo my collar.
My eyes never leave his.
They are red.
Glowing.
The human picks me up.
The metal man smiles.
He reaches down.
I am being lifted by him.
He is huge.
I am brought up to his face.
At first.
We just stare.
Then.
He spoke.
"I've always wanted one of these."
He looks down.
Towards the human.
"Thanks, Marissa. This...This means alot."
The human smiles.
The man looks at me again.
"We are going to need a name for you. But first, lets go to my place."
I sit in his palm.
Confused.
Suddenly.
The man's body starts moving.
Shifting.
I am sitting in a seat.
His voice is coming from where I am.
"Time to see your new home, boy."
I realize.
HE was the metal bird!
I look outside the yellow glass.
We are in the air.
I have never felt
such joy.
It was
The best.
We flew.
He talked.
I drooled.
We arrived.
I hear shifting.
I see it too.
Suddenly
I am in a palm again.
He holds me out.
And looks at me.
"I think I've got it."
I tilt my head.
To see his face.
"From now on, you will be called..."
He smiles.
It was a warm smile.
"Buster."
