Forever Lost

Life: Once lost, can never be regained.

The broken cannot be fixed, the record never played again.

Terrors of the night reveal your bloodied corpse,

Taunting us with our hopeless failures.

Mother, please never forgive us,

We've let you down once more.

With our bodies we paid the price.

The blood, the tears, the determination sacrificed to reach this point.

The stumbles forward, the leaps back.

My brother clinging to humanity by a thread,

I carrying my leaden guilt in my pocket.

The crystal blue shines on my face,

Teasing me with its promises.

Promises of forgiveness.

Shielding our eyes, we step forward blindly,

Only to face the gale which blows us back to our sins.

Sins of which we long to redeem.

Traveling on a long, troubled road,

We cross a bridge we had never meant to cross.

Another toll we are forced to pay.

Now we are stranded in the center of this path,

About to be struck once more, about to lose once more.

Nothing can be done to weaken the blow.

Life: Forever lost, never forgotten,

Even failure has a price.
