Hello People of Fanfiction. This is my first ever ting that I've that I'm posting. I really hope you enjoy it. Plz R&R. It would mean a lot. Feel free to PM me. Constructive critism always helps. Btw's I am working on a longer Clato story. Coming soon. Here it is.
Cato! Cato!
I would know that voice anywhere.
Two thoughts burst into my mind:
Clove. She's in trouble.
I stop chasing the girl from District Five and sprint to the cornocopia.
"Clove!" I call.
I can see the cornocopia now. Clove is held in the air by the District Eleven male. And he's smashing a rock to her temple.
A lump in my throat fors and tears start to well up.
Fire Girl and District Eleven seem to be having a conversation. Fir Girl stands up with her bag and runs to the forest. District Eleven grabs Clove and I's bag and disappears into the field.
"Clove." I choke out. "Clove please. Please don't go. I need you Clove. You're my rock."
Clove lifts her hand and places it on mine. She squeezes it tightly.
"I love you Cato." She whispers.
"I love you too Clove." I say. The tears flow freely now.
She gives me a small smile and closes her emerald green eyes for the last time.
"BOOM!" The canon signals her death.
The cold reality sinks in. I yell in rage.
Then I notice the ring on a chain on her neck. Our engagement ring. Beautiful and studded with emeralds.
I gently lift her head and unclasp the chain. The ring slides into my palm. I stare at it for a couple of moments. I loved her. I loved Clove.
I lift her left hand and slide it onto her ring finger. I kiss her forehead and stand up. Clove is gone forever.
After two days of looking for Thresh in the field I finally find him. He's asleep. I pin him to the ground. He wakes up. I punch him in the face repeatedly. "You killed her!" I scream. Tears are flowing but you can't tell with the thunderstorm.
"She killed Rue" he yells.
"No. No she didn't kill Rue. She asked the careers not to kill Rue. We met Rue on the roof on the night before the games. She reminds me of our daughter. The same curls and wide brown eyes. Now she's going to grow up without a mother!"
I pick up a rock that sits next to us.
"I loved her." I whisper. Then I smash the rock into his temple just like he did to Clove and watch the life slowly drain out of his eyes.
I fall off the cornocopia. The landing knocks the wind out of me.
I reach for the sword hidden in my clothes. All the mutts are attacking me. Biting pieces of my flesh away.
Except for one.
Clove.
Clove is not eating away at me.
Her head rests on my chest occasionaly snarling at some of the mutts.
She loved me.
Right up until the end.
