Sometimes, Ariana Dumbledore felt like nobody really trusted her with anything. Probably they were right, Ariana assumed, as she really sometimes lost control over herself, the incident during which her mother had been killed surely was the best proof for that.

But still Ariana thought that her brothers Albus and Aberforth seemed to forget that she was growing older, and that she was, to some point, a girl like every other, one with dreams and hopes.

There of course were many situations in which she needed help, but it was as if they did not know that she herself knew about her condition. Ariana knew by now how to deal with herself, at least when she was calm and her head was clear. In these moments, she felt normal, but nobody allowed her to be just that – a normal girl.

She had never left their house in Godric's Hollow, if she wanted to go outside, she had to settle with their garden. Their garden, though it was small, was some kind of an place to escape to for her, as she was not allowed to go anywhere else, a fact that turned the house into a prison for her, a place where she could not develop and be free.

Aberforth and Albus did not seem to see her as the teenage girl she was by now – her condition seemed to cause them to think that she was not "able" to grow up mentally.

Therefore, Ariana did not dare to tell them that she was sometimes dreaming of having a romantic relationship, and that she was also sometimes thinking about how it would be to marry someone. Though her groom did not have a face in her little imagination, she could see everything else pretty clearly – her own dress, ebony with a lot of lace, her bridesmaids wearing peach coloured ball gowns...

But who would marry someone like her? Nobody saw more in her than the marked child that had been attacked when she was young, the one that always needed someone to look after her because she was not always in control of her emotions and her magic.

Ariana knew that she would probaly spent her whole life here in this house, not understood by the two people in the world that were supposed to know her best, cursed to dream of a wonderful life rather than to live her dreams.

And though this made her sad, Ariana knew that she would never be able to do something about it.
