You Win

One-shot

They were on a cliff face, the wind whipping around them aggressively and sending their hair flying about their faces. Their fingers and faces had long since gone bumb in the cold weather, but that was the least of their problems.

Cautiously, the Doctor shuffled forward just a bit, enough to seem completely non-threatening, but also enough to give her a chance at saving her friend.

"Missy," the Doctor whispered, the words stolen by the forceful winds, "Missy, please."

Behind her, the Doctor's friends tensed in anticipation and fear, as did the Doctor herself. Her jaw clenched, not because of the shivers wracking her body, but out of sheer anger.

"Missy," she repeated when the woman simply didn't listen, ice blue eyes admiring the crashing waves down below, "Missy, just- just let her go. Please. She hasn't done anything."

"No," Missy shook her head, hold tightening over Yaz who kept her eyes closed, unwilling to face the situation and the freezing waters below her. One wrong step and it would be her end.

"Please," the Doctor pleaded.

"Say something nice," Missy requested.

"Missy, wh-"

"Say something nice," Missy repeated chastisingly.

There was silence for a few seconds as the winds whistled and cried around them, the powerful waves attacking the cliff face they stood upon.

Then, "you win."

"I know," Missy smiled a watery smile.

In a movement too fast for anyone to process, Missy threw Yaz over the cliff, a self satisfied grin appearing at the screams from each member of the party.

The Doctor threw herself to her knees at the very edge of the cliff with a yell of protest, her hands grappling at the jagged edges of it to prevent herself from meeting the same fate as her freind. She had gone as white as a sheet, tears gathered in her eyes and threatening to fall. Her remaining to two friends gently pulled her back from the cliff, their own tears falling down their cheeks.

"Say something nice," Missy requested again, umbrella digging into the rocks beside her.

The Doctor looked up through her wet lashes at her oldest friend in the universe, swallowing the lump back from her throat.

"You win," she choked out with a shake of her head.

"I know."
