He looks prepared. He looks so adult now, she thinks to herself. She doesn't know how she feels. She knows he's doing something important. She clasps her hands nervously, before enveloping him in a hug. She breathes shakily, and despite herself, a tear slides down her cheek.
He takes a deep breath, inhaling the intoxicating scent of her hair. He doesn't know what's going to happen. Since fifth year, he realized that there was a strong chance that he would not be returning. Ever. There was a chance that he would never see Ron again, or Hermione, or the Weasleys. Never play Quidditch again. But the Wizarding World would be better for it.
He knew Dumbledore felt somewhat responsible for him. He knew that Dumbledore felt bad that someone so young had the fate of the Wizarding World on his shoulders. Harry didn't blame anyone. He was born into this position.
"Harry," she began. He placed a finger on her lips to stave off her words. She clutched him tighter and he could hear her ragged breathing. He gently brushed his thumb against her cheek, before kissing her lips gently, sweetly, before pulling away.
She leaned in to kiss him again. When their lips touched, her mouth opened slightly and she felt her heart rush with excitement when his tongue swept into her mouth. When they pulled apart, she gazed into his eyes.
"I love you, Harry. Come back to me," she says. And he nods. "Promise."
"I can't." And with that, he disapparates, and she bites her lip to keep from crying. The thought that she may never see him again arises into her mind and she begins to weep. He was the Boy-Who-Lived. And she prayed he lived up to his title.
