THE NAME GAME
"Emily."
The young woman looked expectantly at the man standing next to her oversized lazy-boy chair. Her chestnut curls bounced as she turned her head, waiting for a response. The man gave a sharp nod and so she turned back to her paper, the diamond ring on her lift ring finger glistening in the light as she dipped her quill into the inkpot.
Suddenly the man spoke, capturing the lady's attention again:
"Sarah."
The woman smiled at his participation in the conversation and then turned back to the parchment in front of her. After neither spoke for quite a while, she rested her chin on her clenched fist in thought, unknowingly getting a bit of the black ink on her face in the process.
Her husband smiled for the first time that evening as he bent down to wipe it off. She looked up at him, slight embarrassed, and they both let out a little laugh—thankful for the break in the silence. The woman spoke again with a little amusement shown clearly in her tone:
"Ginevra?"
The man shook his head violently, his ebony locks slipping out from the rubber band that held them at the nape of his neck.
The woman laughed again, her warm cinnamon eyes sparkling with mirth. Then her eyes lit up as if brilliantly inspired. She smiled at the love of her life knowingly.
"Elizabeth."
Her husband smiled too.
"Elisabeth."
The woman jumped up into his open arms and snuggled into his embrace.
"Severus?" She began, with slight worry apparent in voice.
"Yes, Hermione?" He responded, rubbing his hand gently over her slightly rounded belly.
"What if the baby's a boy?"
A/N: That looked a lot longer written out on paper, I swear. Anyway: I know that was really short and really pointless, but I was bored. This was written to occupy my time during my flight down to Florida to visit my mom. I thought I'd post it anyway, cuz I thought that maybe it'd be a good time filler. If you've got like, five minutes... you've got time to read this! lol. Anyway. Please, please, please, please, PLEASE review. Even if you hated it. You're more than welcome to tell me that you did. I just appreciate knowing that it's been read- not necessarily liked... but read.
