I don't know how or why I'm sitting at this round table, in a small shadowed covered room, with a group of faceless people giving us a drunken cheering.
The man sitting across from me was smiling a Cheshire cat smile. I could faintly make out his features from the only dull light bulb that hung above us. His long raven black and pale gray hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail; a large ragged scar that trialed up from his left cheek to just under his left eye; a black eye patch covered his right eye; and the thing I know that I'll never forget, his right piercing golden eye.
The eye-patched man offered me the cold, hard, metal item smiling.
"Take a breath, take it deep, calm yourself," he says to me. "If you play, you play for keeps. Take the gun, and count to three"
I'm sweating now, moving slow. No time to think, I reach for the gun. My turn to go. I heard the crowd cheering. Chanting my name over and over, but I felt no pride or joy. I was terrified. I wanted nothing more to do then curl up and read a thick book. With Demyx playing his sitar softly in the background.
And you can see my heart beating. You can see it through my chest. And I'm terrified but I'm not leaving, know that I must pass this test.
So just pull the trigger.
The hands that wrapped around the gun shock violently. I slowly looked up at the man.
He smiled at my playfully. "Say a prayer to yourself," He says. "Close your eyes, sometimes it helps." I shut my eyes, trying to block out that happy smile, the faceless people betting on my life, shouts of people telling me to die already. And then I get a scary thought, that he's here, means he's never lost.
And you can see my heart beating. You can see it through my chest. And I'm terrified but I'm not leaving, know that I must pass this test.
So just pull the trigger.
As my life flashes before my eyes, I'm wondering will I ever see another sunrise. I remembered the times Demyx would wake me up early in the morning, way before anyone else got up, just to go to twilight town to watch the sun rises on the clock tower. Demyx, how I wish I could see you again. So many won't get the chance to say goodbye. I wish I could hug you and tell you that I love you. But it's too late to pick up the value of my life
And you can see my heart beating. You can see it through my chest. And I'm terrified but I'm not leaving, know that I must pass this test.
I lifted the gun to my head. The crowd quitted a bit, waiting to see the results. Shutting my eyes tighter, if that was possible, I took a greedy breath of air. For it might be my last. My finger tightend on the trigger. On three.
And you can see my heart beating. You can see it through my chest. And I'm terrified but I'm not leaving, know that I must pass this test.
