Chapter One: It Starts
Dex quickly ran down the metallic hallway. Flying around a corner, he began to panic.
"Crap in a hat! Late for band again! Xoburn's gonna kill me!!" he said as he dashed through the space station. He slowed as he reached the Transdimensional Elevator at the end of the hall. He punched in his code, then the room number: 35-BND. Like that was hard to remember.
"I hate this part," Dex muttered as he felt the familar wave of energy wash over him. A sickening experience, but a normal one for the students aboard the Neo-Randleman High School Space station. Feeling your atoms being taken apart and put back together was not fun. Dex tightly closed his eyes and braced himself. Before he knew it, the ride was over.
Stepping out of the Tradim, as the students called it, he found himself in the Band Room. It was an average sized room, as far as band rooms went. Golden trophies lined the front and back walls, showing the world all the competitions they had won: Intergalatic Band Festival, Interplanetary Band Exhibition, Outer Planet Spectacular. The one trophy they were missing though, was the one they were hoping to get in four shorts weeks: The Universal Musical Starlit Fantasia. If they could get that trophy...........
"DEX!!" Xogurn yelled, the green tentacles on his head thrashing wilding. "Why aren't you in your seat?" Dex was scared out of his trance like state.
"Umm.......because I was trying to teach Bug and Buglet how to play flute?" Dex dodged the pair of mallets that were thrown at him.
"Get in your seat."
"Yes sir." Dex got in his seat and put his flute together.
"As I was saying before I was interupted," Xogburn said. "I will now annouce this year's Captains and Squad Leaders." The class grew silent, waiting to see which of them would be picked.
"This year's woodwind captain will be............" Xogburn started, staring around the room...........
