Ding
Marth rang the doorbell, which had produced a quiet, clear sound. Quite unbefitting of the owner of the apartment, though.
He had been travelling for a few days now, just to get here. Marth was looking forwards to the welcome sleep he could hopefully get soon.
In his arms, he carefully held a crystal vase wrapped up in tissue paper, as he didn't want to get fingerprints on it. Inside the vase, were long stalks of Azure Hollyhocks, the favorite flower of the owner.
The door opened, and after a momentary pause, a blonde smiled brightly and pulled in the tired bluenette. He then carefully took the vase, set it down in a sunny windowsill, and took off the tissue paper. Turning, he ran up and hugged Marth, his lightweight hair touching the side of the other's face.
"Aw, it's been ages since I last saw you!"
Marth smiled, "I missed you too."
When they pulled apart, Marth noticed Shulk's eyes were startlingly much lighter than they were before. Instead of a deep blue hue, they had became almost sky blue.
"Something wrong?" Shulk's face was lined with concern.
"No, it's your eyes..."
"Oh! Well it just comes and goes with the seasons. Don't worry!" He leaned forwards to peck Marth on the cheek, and then trotted away to get tea for him. Marth sighed, and fell back onto a couch behind him.
When Shulk returned, he found a person passed out on his living room couch. Gently, he shook his lover awake. Marth sat up to make room for the visionary, but as soon as Shulk sat down, he fell over into his lap. After mumbling about "needing rest", he was soon out like a light.
Well he did have to travel a bit to get here. I guess a long trip can really wear out a person anyways. And good thing I had put the mugs on the table, I imagine holding a box while having a person sleep on you could get uncomfortable pretty fast.
Absent-mindedly, he stroked the other's hair. While lost in thought, he suddenly realized that Marth had begun to murmur in his sleep.
"...Shulk..."
"Huh?"
"...smells...nice..."
Laughing quietly, the blonde shook his head slowly as he gently shifted his weight to get into a more comfortable position.
When it would soon be dinner time, Shulk reluctantly woke up his lover.
"Marth, you gotta get up."
"Mmmhm."
"Seriously, I made dinner reservations."
"Huh?"
"Well you know I'm terrible at cooking!"
Sighing, Marth slowly pushed himself upright and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Blinking heavily, he looked around in confusion.
"Wait, did I sleep for four hours?"
"Yup."
He sighed, "Lets go."
Dinner had gone quite well. The pair had gone to a nice restaurant in a well-lit area, and while they weren't sporting anything formal, they did their best to look clean and well-dressed at the least.
Having walked back at a leisurely pace, they were both worn out from the long walk, as well as the long night out in general.
Back at the apartment, once the door closed, Marth grabbed Shulk's arm and pulled him in for a kiss. When they broke apart, Shulk leaned forwards into the bluenette's chest, with eyes closed and a serene smile on his face.
Quietly, they separated to prepare for their nightly rest.
As Marth lay in the guest bedroom, he looked upwards at the skylight, where the moon shone in brightly as the stars speckled the night sky.
He heard the door creak open, and sat up to be greeted by the sight of a blonde rubbing his eyes.
"D'you mind? I can't sleep," Shulk whispered.
In response, Marth patted the other side of the bed. Shulk climbed into the bed, and curled up next to his lover's body.
Sighing in peace, they soon fell asleep.
