Since my fellow writer DramaticStarlet is such a big fan of Lake fanfics, I've decided to give one a try. So here's my attempt at it, enjoy!

Lilly Truscott is in big trouble. No one knows about it, but she is. After all, this is one of the most important rules in girl code, and though she usually doesn't care about that stupid code, even eternal-tomboy Lilly knows it. You don't date your best friend's ex-boyfriend. It just doesn't happen. Nuh-uh, not good, shun the non-believers. So if it doesn't happen, how did Lilly end up in this situation?

He's cute. Wait a minute, strike that. He's incredibly cute. Not to mention smart, nice, and hello, major teen celebrity? Not that it matters that much. Well, it does. But not really.

The point is she likes him. Whoa, that's an understatement. She's completely head-over-heels in love with him, and the worst part is, there's nothing she can do about it.

Whenever she's with him, it takes all of her self-control to stay quiet and not say anything. It takes all of her willpower to act tomboy-ish and not like a girl, which is how she feels around him. See, now you can't say that it's just puppy love, because she actually feels like a girl when she's with him, something that never, ever happens.

Today, Lilly and Jake end up sitting together at Rico's because Miley is too busy flirting up a storm with Oliver. They make her gag, the two of them. Her two best friends had been dating for a couple of months now, and no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't keep the lovey-dovey stuff to themselves.

They weren't rubbing it in her face, but that's exactly what it felt like.

"Hey, Lilly, pass me the ketchup?" asked Jake, looking at her expectantly. She's been daydreaming again, so deep into her thoughts that his voice brought her out with a jolt.

She grabbed the ketchup, but didn't let go even when she felt his fingers on the container. Wow, his eyes were such a nice shade of green.

"Um, Lilly? Can I have the ketchup?" he asked. Lilly came back to reality, and let go of the container, blushing madly. Jake, not knowing she was going to let go, released the container, causing it to fall on the table and pop open, ketchup flying all over the place, especially on his shirt.

"Oh my God! Jake, I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry, Jake!" Lilly exclaimed, feeling horrible. By instinct, she grabbed napkins and tried to clean up his shirt of the red gooeyness.

"It's fine, don't worry about it. I'll just toss it in the wash when I get home," he said, taking her hand to stop her frantic cleaning. Lilly looked up, suddenly realizing how close she was to him. In fact, if she just moved an inch over here, it would be almost like they were about to kiss.

Lilly closed her eyes and leaned in, not thinking about what she was doing.

She couldn't take it anymore. "I like you, Jake!" she blurted suddenly.

Lilly pulled back quickly, almost knocking over Jake's drink. Suddenly, she felt Jake's lips on hers, and his hands going around her waist. How was this happening?

Wait! How could she do this? Lilly stood up, this time knocking over the drink, and blushed madly. She looked at Jake, who looked surprised and really confused.

"Lilly, what are you doing?" she heard Miley whisper from behind her. "Just kiss him already!"

Shocked, Lilly looked at her best friend, who gestured to Jake.

Not caring about the stupid girl code, she leaned in and kissed him, not even bothering to explain.

She's have time for that later. For now, it was kissing time.
