NOTE: I decided to update this with some extra sentences and all that. Thanks to Light27 for the proof-read suggestion even though I haven't got around to actually editing it until now.
There were bad days. And there were worse days. But this turned out to be the worst of them all. At least, it was for these two.
It was not that they had planned for this. Actually, they never did. What was really bothersome (for them) was the fact that they were both too close to each other. Literally too close to each other. To the point that Tsubaki was having a hard time adjusting his senses over the sight that lay before his very eyes. But Switch didn't mind. Switch was Switch after all and he probably would have taken a photo.
It all started with Yabasawa-san's pet monkey again. Or whatever it was called. Gibbon, right? They didn't care, really. It was trouble enough that they had to look after it a year earlier. Now, it had grown, its mischief evolved to a higher level.
"Yeti!"
"Get back here you little twerp!"
Unfortunately, Tsubaki happened to be on patrol that day. And when the door to one of the empty classrooms burst open, his face became the scratching post for one of the most unusual animals to have walked the academy.
"Oh, hey, Tsubaki!"
"Yeah, we're kinda busy right now!"
And now three students were on their heels. Two after a gibbon and one after the other two. Eventually, they reached the end of the hallway.
"Move out of the way!"
"No, you move!"
"Sket-dan!"
To cut the long story short, the little bugger led them down the staircase causing the two to crash into each other as they met, sending them tumbling down. Luckily, Switch was there with his hands in an open snare, trapping Yeti in his grasp. Unfortunately for Bossun and Himeko, things had taken a turn for the most awkward and embarrassing moment of their high school lives.
Plainly speaking, Bossun landed on top of Himeko after the trip down the stairs. An added bonus was that their lips met. And their bodies pressed against each other. With Bossun's legs right in between Himeko's. And Switch staring from the other side, holding the monkey with both hands.
Three silent awkward seconds passed. And the two briskly pulled away from each other, coughing and spurting out tsukkomi after tsukkomi after tsukkomi. For Tsubaki, it would be safe to say that he had no time to go on a tirade as his cheeks were on fire with smoke coming out of his ears (or his earwax evaporating, which was probably it).
In the end, Yabasawa-san picked up her pet wondering why Bossun and Himeko were gloomy and red-faced for the majority of their conversation.
"We exerted a lot of effort in taking care of it," Switch intoned, typing away at his keyboard as the synthesizer vocalized his statements. "They're just tired."
"Well, that's awful."
No shit.
