His eyes were mesmerizing. Bright blue glistening like the Mediterranean on a warm night. His hair a golden blonde shining like the sun. He was the most beautiful person I have ever seen.
Clary Fray's eyes opened and she gazed up at her ceiling in wonder.
"Was it seriously a dream? She mumbled to herself. A wave of foreign emotion crept up her spine. It was tinged with a metallic taste of regret and longing. She huffed and climbed out of her queen sized bed grimacing. It was just a dream. He wasn't real. He was just a figment of her imagination.
Finally realising this- and accepting that it was a dream Clary made her way to the kitchen to make some breakfast.
Five minutes later she was chin deep in some cheerios. She glanced around the open kitchen of the loft she shared with her Mother. It was exactly what one pictured a Brooklyn kitchen to look like. Trendy but rustic. Clary took another mouthful of cheerios as her phone rang. She fished it out of her pocket and smiled compassionately.
SIMON calling
"Good Morning Simon."
Sup, Fray?
"Cheerios, then oh I don't know, meeting you at Java Jones?"
Sounds good- see you there. Tell your Mom I said Hi.
The line went dead as Clary rolled her eyes and chuckled. Simon Lewis, her best friend could always make her laugh. Clary and Simon had both just graduated High School a few weeks ago and were enjoying their first summer of complete freedom. Who knows what the future had in store for Clary. She didn't care about the future- she was determined to live solely in the present.
The knob on the living room door turned and a woman with bright orange hair walked in with a bag of assorted vegetables.
"Morning Clary."
Clary smiled fondly at her Mother.
"Hi Mom- I'm heading out to Java Jones to meet Simon in a few minutes. Did you want me to pick you up a bagel?"
Jocelyn Fray grinned at her matching orange haired daughter with a shock of beautiful curls and rubbed her stomach.
"Oh you know how I love my bagels but I'm okay I ate a big breakfast with Luke at Pancake Land."
"Where is Luke anyways?
Jocelyn set the groceries down and started to put them away.
"Oh he got called into work. You know how policemen work."
Clary nodded in agreement. The life of a policemen was a dangerous one. She worried about Luke's safety all the time and she knew that her Mother did too. She shook off the upsetting thoughts and finished her cheerios.
An hour later and she was sitting at Java Jones waiting for Simon. Clary sat alone in the cafe' continuously checking her phone. Simon was fifteen minutes late.
"He's probably with Maureen." Clary thought to herself. Maureen and Simon were in the same band and she was hoping they would get together.
The cafe's doors swung open and a boy with brown curly hair and thick rimmed glasses jogged in.
"I am so sorry! My Mom cornered me and wanted to have one of her talks and you know how those go." Simon took a seat down infront of Clary.
"Well atleast you managed to escape." She winked at her best friend.
