(I do not own anything in regards to True Blood or the actors.)
"You have got to be joking! This cannot be the way True Blood ends."
"Stephens right. This isn't even how the books end and I know we didn't follow the books to a tee at least the books have some kind of acceptable ending. Sookie cannot just end up with a regular guy!" Alex crossed his arms as he leaned back against the wall. "If she cannot end up with Eric as I would prefer of course then she should end up with Bill he is after all and to my everlasting disgust her true love."
Stephen glared at his friend Alex before jumping right back in, "Bill and Sookie are meant to be together. They have been destined since the first moment they meet. Bill has loved her throughout this whole show and now to kill him off is just wrong. There has to be a way to bring Bill back and get these two love birds together."
"I know you all want Bill and Sookie to end up together, but think of the deeper issues…" Alan tried to reason with his cast members.
Anna spoke up for the first time, "I understand the deeper issues Alan, but sometimes those deeper issues are outweighed by the basic facts. Fact 1…Bill and Sookie belong together. Fact 2…the audience…at least a majority want Bill and Sookie to be together and we should always give the audience what they want."
Stephen put his arm around Anna's shoulders pulling her in close, "Do you remember what happened when Star Trek Voyager went off the air ending the show with Chakotay and Seven of Nine together instead of Chakotay with the captain?"
"No, what happened?" Carrie asked as she took a sit by the window.
"A friend of mine who worked on the show told me there were death threats made against the directors and writers by the more radical viewers…but overall there was a huge backlash of negativity toward the show after that." Stephen focused back on Alan, "Do you want our viewers to hate us as well?"
"No I don't want our viewers to hate us, but no matter how we end the show some of the viewers are going to hate it. If we end it with Bill and Sookie together those who think Sookie and Eric should end up together will hate it. The reverse is true if we end it with Sookie and Eric. If we end it the way the books do with Sam and Sookie together we will be hated by the Bill and Eric fans as well. There is no way to end it without making someone mad."
"So instead of making at least one group happy….preferably the Bill and Sookie group…you are going to make them all mad at you?" Stephen just shook his head. As a director himself he knew sometimes you had to make unpopular decisions to keep the characters true to themselves, but this was not the time in his opinion. The audience was screaming for a happy ending and what Alan was proposing was anything but.
"I am sorry group, but this is the way it is." Alan gathered his paperwork and left a very downcast crew.
"Well," Stephen looked at all the long faces "at least there is always fanfiction and the fans can rewrite the story." Sending a smirk to Alex Stephen couldn't help but add, "With Bill and Sookie ending up together!"
