Summary: She was thirty, but didn't remember if she was eleven, twelve, or thirteen when she and Sean kissed for the first time.
-
Emma had meant to ask Sean if he wanted something to eat, but somehow ended up on his lap kissing him urgently. Both of his hand were braced against the sides of her head and her fingers were deftly unbuttoning his shirt.
She was thirty, but didn't remember if she was eleven, twelve, or thirteen when she and Sean kissed for the first time. She was thirty, and should have know by now that you don't generally find true love so young, and even if you do, the path of true love doesn't run the way Sean and Emma's have. She was thirty and knew that these facts really matter, at least for them, between them.
"How have you been?" Sean asked when she set her forehead against his and closed her eyes.
"A lot of things."
"I've missed you," he said and she wonders how much he's changed.
"Me too," she said and knows neither have them changed enough not to want and need each other anymore.
