It was late; sometime after midnight, to be precise. The TV was casting flickering light across the room, throwing about shadows. It had been muted long ago, so all it was doing was providing light. Two bodies lay in the nearby futon, the darker-haired male inhaling deeply from a cigarette while his younger companion lay next to him. This was a common occurrence whenever they were done fucking, almost like a habit now.

"Didn't know you could bend back that far." Adachi spoke first, breaking the silence. Smoke drifted from his mouth as he made the comment, dissipating in the air. "Could even say I'm impressed."

"Mm." Souji mumbled in agreement. He was laying on his side, his bruised and scraped back to the detective.

"I told you trying something new would be worth it," He spoke again after a moment, taking another drag of the cigarette. "Glad you followed through; I had a pretty good time."

Souji didn't respond this time, but shifted some, head rolling just enough for him to look at Adachi. Then, making some decision, he sat up, and reached out to take the cigarette. Before Adachi could protest, Souji brought it to his lips and tried to inhale, but quickly brought it away again, coughing. He handed it back, still coughing some.

"Idiot." Adachi mumbled. "You did it wrong. Here."

The man took a drag, then held the smoke in his mouth, tilting Souji's head towards him. He kissed him, exhaling the smoke into the boy's mouth and pulling away. After a moment, Souji exhaled as well, smoke puffing out the proper way. He blinked a few times, watching it disappear, and looked at Adachi again before he spoke. "I don't usually smoke, is all."

"Well, I wouldn't recommend it, but I won't tell you not to." Adachi leaned back again. "Especially not if you learn to do that. I get a kick out of it." A smug smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he sucked in one last drag, then rubbed the finished cig into the nearby ashtray.

"Then I might." Souji slid back down to lay down again, closing his eyes this time. It was silent again for a while, and eventually, the warmth left for a bit and the flickering light from the television vanished, before it returned, settling next to him but not quite touching. The two fell asleep like that, which was also just as much a habit as the rest of the things they did.
