Hey everyone! This is just a small Noerah one-shot! I just love these two to death! Enjoy! xx

The moon is waxing, and her bones ache. She's got her arms folded and she is looking at nothing in particular. Tonight, they are sleeping in a small hut given to them by the people of Archylte Steppe. It's hard to tell whether Noel is sleeping or not, but she doesn't have the strength to turn around and look at him. She wouldn't even know how to ask. The words do not come to her.

When she closes her eyes, the room breathes more easily than she does and Serah finds that she might have words tangled up in those exhausted, girlish lungs of hers after all.

Hey Noel? Hey Noel, I won't be scared if you run away.

She can smell the growing musky rain smell and she is thankful they have been given shelter tonight.

Hey Noel? I know we said we'd stick together, but I want you to know, if for some reason we can't, I won't blame you if we split.

Moments flash behind her eyes and she remembers the day's events. She remembers the little things, too. She remembers the sting of fangs being pushed inside her forearm and the curasive spells being sent her way by her friend afterwards. She remembers Noel's hand on her hip as he helped her steadying herself and the heat it left on her skin.

Hey Noel? I hope you're not awake for this. You know I care about you right? I'm going to care about you until I die. I don't know what I'd do if you left, but if you staying meant you'd get wrapped up in whatever my sister's plans are, I wouldn't get mad if you left. I want you to be safe.

She remembers the villagers laughing, treating them like heroes. She remembers giggling and poking Mog on the nose. She remembers Noel's kind eyes watching her.

"Hey Noel?" Breathy, quiet but enough for the syllables to slip out regardless. Something lets go of its vise on her heart momentarily, just long enough for a murmured confession. "I'm glad you're here."

The ache in her bones and her heart and her head subsides after that. She cannot say, in words, exactly why.
