Spectacular Spiderman: Web of Destiny
Hey there, I know it's been a long time since I posted the last chapter and since then, my writing skills have improved. So far, this story has been sloppy, which is why I'm going to re-write it starting with this chapter. Hope you all enjoy, and PLEASE REVIEW!
"No more Spiderman."
Peter gripped his Spiderman outfit in his right hand holding out over the ocean. He stood sturdy on the pier and paid no attention to the rain that pelted down onto him. His shirt was soaked and his pants were the same. But still he stayed, trying to gain the courage to let go. Peter starred into the big white eyes of his costume. Even in the dark of the night, they stood out and gleamed. They were starring back at him. Begging him not to do this.
"No. I can't do this anymore." The words came out of his mouth slowly and were forced. He slowly brought his arm back along with his costume but then stopped before striking his arm out over the sea below.
"I can do this." He tried to edge himself on. But another part of him fought it. A war was erupting within him. A war poised with using his powers for the greater good. While the other wanted to let go. To be free.
"Why?" Peter's words echoed. "Why do you do this to me!" The teen fell to his knees and brought his costume to his chest. "I tried to be the hero. But no matter how hard I tried I always messed up in some way. It would either be against me or someone else. Think of all the people who depended on me to help them. I can't save them all. And because of that my best friend despises my other half. The Girl I love can't be with me! And everyday I go on with this burden on my shoulders!" Peter's voice grew grim and he became angry. "Why do you do this to me! Why! Is this because I couldn't save you! Is this because I let you down! I'm sorry! But this can't go on!"
Peter stood up and threw his arm out over the violent sea, his costume billowing and draping in his hand. He looked down at the blue below, and watched as a faint of image of his dead Uncle Ben appeared.
"Please Peter."
"Never again!" retorted Peter in rage. "This it the end! No more Spiderman!" With that, Peter's grip on his suit loosened and his costume fell to sea. As it hit, the image of Peter's Uncle vanished and he watched as his suit sunk to the bottom of the sea.
Without a word, Peter stuffed his hands in his pockets and walked away.
Episode 1: Rising Up Part 1
RING! RING! RING!
Peter's hand quickly reached out and smacked the top of his alarm clock, shutting it off. He groaned in annoyance and pulled the covers over his head. He didn't want to start school again. He didn't want to face his best friends Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacey, the girl of his dreams. He had given up being Spiderman after he had accidently killed the Green Goblin AKA Norman Osborn. It had made life easier since, but he still had to face up to the consequences of his actions as the masked crime fighter. And that was something he wasn't looking forward to.
"Peter!" called Aunt May from downstairs. "It's time for school!"
Peter sighed before throwing the covers off of himself and standing up. He went to his draws and threw on his white long sleeved short before putting his blue t-shirt over it. He slipped on his brown jeans before reaching under his bed and taking his web shooters.
"I really need to get out of this habit," groaned Peter as he eyed his silver web devices. "Might as well bring them." Peter shrugged as he picked up his bag and threw his web shooters in.
"Hurry up Peter!" called May again from downstairs. Peter ignored her this time.
"Now I just have to hope going to school won't be as bad as I think it'll be." Peter looked into the mirror before leaving the room.
Harry took a deep breath before opening the door and stepping into the board meeting. A long black table sat in the middle of the room with a dozen leather chairs placed around it. At the shorter sides of the tables was also a chair.
Sitting in each of the chairs with the exception of the one furthest from him was a board member, each wearing a fancy suit with a tie. They all eyed the young heir to OSCORP s he made his way down the room.
Steadily, Harry pulled the chair back before sitting in it. He shuffled forward in it while trying not to make eye contact with anyone.
"Mr. Osborn," said the Board Member closest to him. "We are greatly sad about the loss of your Father, and we know that this isn't the easiest thing to be doing at the age you are. But it has to be done."
Harry just shrugged in response.
"Anyway," interrupted the Board Member furthest away from Harry. "We have found our newest member. Someone who can take over until your are deemed fit."
All eyes in the room turned to look at the door as a handsome young man dressed in a dark blue suit appeared. He had short red hair and yellow eyes. He had light toned skin and was of a decent height.
"Good morning," said the Man as he moved to the spare seat on the opposite side of the table from Harry. "As some of you know, I am Jason Phillip and I am the head of the Phillip Corporation. Of course, it's no where as large or as powerful as OSCORP but I do have the experience to run a company such as this."
Harry didn't look at Jason. He didn't want to look at anyone. He just wanted to be alone. But his Father's past was catching up to him already.
"What's your offer?" sighed Harry as he looked up at Jason.
The businessman smiled in response. "All I want is the minimum shares to control the company. Of course that means when you hit 18, you'll gain enough shares to take control and I'll step down. Of course, you don't have to agree. But from what I've heard, everyone else trying this out wants full control. It's your choice." Jason took a pen from his pocket and placed it on the clipboard in front of him. Then with a quick swipe, the clipboard slid across the table to Harry.
The teen starred down at the forms and the place where his signature was meant to go.
"I guess I don't have much of a choice," Harry said reluctantly as he scribbled his name into the space and pushed the clipboard away.
Phillip's smile grew. "Excellent. Now, time to work out the details. Of course, this won't concern much of you and I'm sure you have school today, so it's fine for you to leave."
Harry didn't say anything as he stood up and strode out of the room. After he had closed the door behind him, he growled in frustration before walking away.
The bus trip was long and awkward. He felt that it was going to fast. He didn't want have to face up to this. He had been scarred for a lot of his life. Going to school wasn't necessarily a good thing for Peter Parker. He had been bullied since Grade 1, and Eddie was the only one who stood up for him. But he couldn't be his own personal bodyguard 24/7. But for once Peter wasn't scarred about having to face up to Flash Thompson and his friend Kenny. No, he was afraid of facing the consequences of his actions as both Peter and Spiderman. His break up with Liz Allen had not been a very good choice on Peter's behalf. Especially since her brother had been turned into the monstrous Mutant Man and now Liz had become distant from everyone ever since. That was only the start of it though. Peter was also going to have to meet with Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacy.
Harry was still going to be obsessed with the fact that Spiderman killed his Father and Peter also knew that he would be dealing with stress from OSCORP's finding of a new CEO who could take control till Harry was old enough.
Last but not least was Gwen Stacy. Peter loved Gwen, but she was staying with Harry just so that he wouldn't do anything stupid.
Peter sighed in annoyance and gulped as the bus came to a stop outside his school. The door hissed as it opened, and Peter slowly exited the vehicle and was left at the sidewalk.
'This is so not going to end well,' thought Peter as he looked at the school's entrance.
The bell that signaled the end of the day went off, and students bolted from the rooms and into the corridors.
Peter had gone through the entire day without having to face up to Gwen or Harry. But he knew if he wasn't careful he'd be caught. Peter edged his way through the crowd until he came to his locker. As he opened it, a hand pushed back in.
Peter sighed. "Hi Flash."
"Hey Puny Parker," chuckled the star quarterback as he patted Peter on the back. "How was the break for you?"
"Well…"
"Don't care!" interrupted Flash as he pulled open Peter's locker so that it hit him in the face. "Later Parker!" Flash walked off laughing.
"That could have been worse," muttered Peter under his breath.
"Peter?" said a voice.
Peter turned to see Gwen standing at a locker close to his.
"Hey Gwen," replied Peter as he tried to sound casual.
"How come you've been avoiding me and Harry?" Gwen asked as she cut to the point.
"What!" Peter tried his best to looked shocked. "I would never do something like that."
Gwen just starred at Peter intently.
"Okay," sighed Peter. "I have been. I…just…have this stuff going on and all." Peter looked down at his feet. "I'm sorry."
Peter took his bag from his locker and swung it around his shoulder. "I have to go."
"Peter wait!" called Gwen as Peter walked away.
BOOM!
Peter's spider sense went off as a huge chunk of wall came flying at him. Jumping to the side, Peter watched as the boulder flew past him and crashed into a wall.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Screams could be heard from outside the school and fire erupted from everywhere.
'This can't be right?' thought Peter as he looked around and watched as fire burst from the building and more boulders came flying towards him. Peter quickly ducked and let the boulder smash into the wall behind him.
Peter jumped up and ran over to Gwen who was doing her best to escape the building.
"Gwen I'm coming!" cried Peter as he raced towards his friend. Suddenly, a piece of ceiling came crashing down towards Gwen and Peter launched himself forward. Grabbing Gwen, he pulled her away and watched as the ceiling fell to the ground.
Quickly Peter picked up Gwen and jumped through the window, turning around so that the glass smashed against his back. Groaning as the landed on his feet, Peter placed Gwen on the grass and quickly jumped back into the school.
"Peter!" cried Gwen as she watched her friend disappear into the fiery building.
The school was in panic as the giant robotic spider launched itself around the school. It was huge, bigger then the average person, it had a silver body and black legs. It was equipped with missiles and all other sorts of weapons. It was destroying the school, unleashing barrels of bullets on missiles everywhere.
But that wasn't the worst part for Harry Osborn. The fact that the robot was following him was the real problem.
"Figure Identified: Harry Osborn. Must Destroy!"
Harry watched in terror as the Robot fired another missile at him. Sprinting around a corner, Harry watched as the missile smashed into the wall in front of him and exploded.
Peter watched in shock as the Robot chased Harry down the next hall.
'I can't just watch as this happens,' thought Peter. 'I have to do something.'
"With great power, comes great responsibility."
"Dam it!" cursed Peter as reached into his bag and pulled out his web shooters.
'Hang on,' thought Peter as he paused. 'I can't go around like this. Someone will notice me, even if I'm wearing a mask.'
Looking around, Peter spotted the Drama room not to far away and sprinted towards it. He quickly shoved open the door and slammed it behind him. Jumping over to the clothes racks where many costumes lay, Peter began to sort through them until he found a zip-up skintight red suit with a mask similar to his own.
"Better then nothing," Peter commented as he slipped into the suit and zipped it up. He then put on his web shooters and finally donned the mask.
"This can't be happening!" panicked Harry as he raced down the hall. "This can't be happening!"
The Robot was right behind him, spraying bullets all over the place. Harry screamed as a bullet grazed his shoulder and he fell to the ground.
Quickly, the Robot came upon the helpless teen.
"Please don't hurt me," begged Harry as tars formed in his eyes.
"Target Acquired: Harry Osborn. Must Destroy!"
As the bullets shot out of the Robot's cannons Spiderman emerged from the shadows, grabbed Harry and jumped out of the way.
"Target No Longer Acquired," beeped the Robot.
Spiderman placed Harry on the ground and turned to face the Robot as it spotted him.
"You!" spat Harry when he saw who had saved him.
"I'm glad to see you too," replied Spiderman.
"Figure Identified: Spiderman. Alias-Web Slinger, Wall Crawler, Web Head and Web Freak. Danger to Mission. Must Eliminate."
"No one's eliminating anyone," retorted Spiderman. "And I think someone needs to teach you a few manners." Cracking his knuckles, the Hero took a fighting pose and starred at his foe.
"Prepare to be eliminated."
Cannons retracted from the Robot's back and aimed at Spiderman. They quickly began to fire bullets at Spiderman, who jumped onto a wall to avoid the fire.
"Now that's just rude!" yelled Spiderman from over the noise of the bullets firing. As the Robot turned to face Spiderman, he shot out a web and swung to the opposite wall. Quickly, he shot out a web that landed on one of the cannons and pulled. The cannons broke off but bullets continued to shoot from it.
"That gives me an idea," chuckled Spiderman as he pulled up the cannon and aimed it at the Robot as it turned around.
"Fire in the hole!" cried Spiderman as the cannon fired bullets at the Robot, knocking it back and also destroying its remaining cannon.
The Robot was however bulletproof, and it managed to get itself balanced again. A missile shot out of its body and collided near Spiderman. Dropping the cannon, Spiderman jumped from the wall and shot out a web and swung away.
The Robot jumped around to face its foe, quickly adapting to this enemy. It pincers opened up, and a stream of electric energy shot from it and hit Spiderman. The hero fell to the ground and hit with a crunch.
"Ouch."
The Robot quickly sprung forward and rammed its leg into the body of Spiderman. As it pulled it up to do it again however, Spiderman clung on and went up with it.
"Good morning sunshine," joked Spiderman as he leaped off the leg and onto the Robot. "Time to ground this spider." Spiderman shot out a web that clung to a pipe and pulled. The pipe flew into his hand and he smashed it against the Robot's back. This didn't do much however as the pipe just broke in half.
"I so need adamantium claws," whined Spiderman.
A part of the Robot's back opened and a net shot out of and wrapped itself around the Hero. Spiderman fell from the Robot's back and hit the ground. The Robot didn't see the need to finish him off and went back to looking for Harry.
"Don't walk away from me!" roared Spiderman as he ripped opened the net and shot tow web stands at lockers on either side of the Robot. He then tugged and crossed his arms over, sending the lockers crashing into the Robot.
The Robot however, wasn't phased much by this and knocked the lockers away. It then continued to move forward.
"Hey I'm talking to you!" Spiderman cried as he jumped up onto a roof support and shot webs at the spiders pincers and held tight. The Robot jerked as it tired to move forward but was met with the force of the webs.
"How do you like them apples?" asked Spiderman as he began to pull the Robot back. Suddenly, the Robot bent its knees and launched itself forward, creating enough force to rip out the support beam Spiderman was standing on and send him flying forward.
"Oh no!" cried Spiderman as the Robot turned around and smacked him through a wall with its leg like a baseball.
Spiderman screamed as he smashed through the wall and landed on a glass cabinet.
"Having invisible force fields at your disposal would also help," groaned Spiderman as he lay injured on the ground.
The Robot this time followed Spiderman and prepared a missile.
"Talk about kicking a guy while he's down," commented the Hero as he stood up.
"Must Destroy."
"Yeah, yeah I get it," sighed Spiderman. "Are you going to fire or not?"
The Robot didn't respond and just fired the missile.
"Fooled ya!" cried Spiderman in triumph as he leaned back, and the missile flew past. He then quickly shot out a web that caught the missile and pulled forward, sending it flying at the Robot.
There was a loud boom and the Robot's head was blown open and fell back into the hall.
Spiderman quickly followed and saw that the Robot was now out of control. It was sending missiles and bullets everywhere.
Slowly edging his way towards the Robot, he looked at what remained of the Robot's head and shot a web at it. It caught a few wires and Spiderman pulled. The Robot suddenly stopped moving before falling to the ground with a crash.
"That could have been harder," sighed Spiderman with relief before turning to see Harry walking towards him.
"This doesn't change anything."
Spiderman stood there for a while, looking at harry before shooting out a web and launching himself through a skylight and swinging away.
The room was dark and basically empty. The only contents was a small brown coffe table and two black sofa chairs on either side. Sitting on the table were two lasses of vodka and chess board. Sitting in the first chair was none other then Jason Phillip.
"You failed," spat Jason as he knocked his glass off of the table.
"Please Mr. Phillips," replied an old man siting opposite him. "I can assure you that Harry Osborn will be taken out." The Man wore a bluejacket with black pants. His hair was white and his eyes blue.
"Oh really?" retorted Jason. "Then why isn't he dead!"
"Spiderman's interference was a setback," replied the Man as he reached towards the chessboard in front of him and picked up a black queen piece. "But he won't be a problem for long. Spencer Smythe doesn't fail." Slowly, Spencer knocked away the white king piece with the white queen and smirked devilishly.
That's a wrap. Hope you all enjoyed the first chapter. Oh, and the chapters will get better from here. Please REVIEW!
