Rain beets down on the pavement,

A woman passes the monster, her numbers dwindling

To be human,

To have a soul,

To feel

Not to be slave to the master

Is that so much to ask?

His eyes flash as he follows, silent as a cat

She walks slowly, wasting her precious time

He sneers at this

They were all the same

Ignorant fools who squandered the life they took for granted

She sealed her fate as she turned a dark ally

A grim smile split his face

In the distance the thunder swallowed her dying scream

The last thing she would ever be remembered by

Her last testament to a cruel world that had chosen her fate for her

Blood ran through the street, diluted by the rain

Creating beautiful patterns of crimson gore,

That would be washed away by the morning

The monster inside,

Clawing its way out,

The need to kill,

The duty that enslaved him,

Ruled his life

What was it like to love some one?

What was it like to be truly happy?

Not satisfied the monster was sated

Happiness

Love

He felt the most he would ever know another

Was their last moments on the earth,

As he watched the light fade from their dying eyes

The way their blood congealed on the pavement

The way their organs spilled

Water slid down his cheeks,

Lighting illuminated his face.

Why did he go on?

What other purpose did he serve other than destruction?

Only one thing kept him alive

Hope

Hope that this utter hell would end

Hope that some how, this would all come to a close

Hope for something to put his faith in,

Other than death

Death was the only sure thing in the world

Hope for a release

Hope that he could one day be free from his prison

A single bloody tear fell from his crimson eyes

To the pavement,

Dissipating as if it never existed

The darkness inside of my soul never ends.

Italics= thought
