Niles looked at his watch. It was nine o'clock in the morning. His first patient would be arriving soon. They were a couple. They were seeking help with their marriage. Niles often took on a therapeutic role. He had no trouble helping a couple with their marriage.

"Hello," Niles said, "Please come in. I'm Dr. Niles Crane. Please take a seat. Now what can I do for you."

"Hi Dr. Crane," the wife said, "My name is Christina and this is my husband Alvin."

"Please to meet you," Niles said.

"Well we are here because my wife refuses to accept my position as head of the household," Alvin said, "I believe we should try domestic discipline."

"I'm sorry I'm not familiar with the term"

"Well basically it's where the husband is in charge. He sets the rules and can discipline his wife for breaking them."

"Discipline? Mr. Storm you do realize that this is your wife not a toddler," Niles asked, "and that this is not the barbaric days."

"Well not harsh discipline. Some physical punishment if need be and-"

"Mr. Storm," Niles said in a dangerously quiet voice, "I am married. I have a beautiful strong smart wonderful and kindhearted wife. I do not find the need to control her like she is some robot. I don't set rules for her. I don't keep secrets from her and I DON'T EVER HARM HER. That is unacceptable."

"Well than I'm out of ideas," the husband said, "What do you recommend?"

"What I recommend is that you go home and take a good hard look at yourself. I would be happy to take you on as a patient to help you find out why you have the need to control others and I will do it pro bono. Then I would recommend you make a list to remember why you fell in love with this woman. And you start treating her with dignity and respect because if your wife is anything like mine and I can see that she is she deserves nothing less and a whole love more

"This woman chose you. That doesn't mean you get a free pass and can act however you want to. You have to keep on earning her love day after day after day."

"Dr. Crane," Alvin asked.

"Yes?"

"Can you fit me in tomorrow?"
