I smiled as I stepped outside.

"Perfect," I murmured. The sky was clear and it was warm, perfect conditions for some good bird watching.

I found a bench and sat down, my binoculars clenched tightly in my hands. My head was facing upwards towards the sky, my eyes seeking out the flying critters.

"Oh!" I gasped as one landed right in front of me.

I grinned; a blue jay.

"Jason!" Nate called from inside. "It's almost time for the Final Jam and Shane's still grumpy!"

I scurried inside, but not before taking one last look at my little blue jay.
