I Care.
It was a warm sunny day in the Greil Mercenary camp; Mist decided it was a great day for a picnic in the lush forest of Crimea. She neatly placed some fruit, bread and some sliced cake into a basket; she had Oscar help her prepare all of this.
Once packed, she headed for the door, stopping outside where she found Boyd.
"Boyd!" she called. "Come with me, we'll have a picnic."
She waved for him to come. He looked up from his axe.
"Huh? Oh, Mist, have fun." He said flatly, returning to polish his axe.
Mist frowned and stepped closer to him.
"No, don't you want to come with me?" she asked, showing him the basket. He never could resist food.
"I'm busy now, Mist." He told her, not looking up this time.
Mist's heart sank.
"I'll go alone then…" she said, walking downhill into the forest.

When she reached the forest, she found a clearing in the trees to set down a sheet and begin eating. She began bringing out the snacks until she heard a noise in the trees nearby.
"Who's there?" she said, readying her Florette.
A figure jumped from the tree and landed firmly on the ground before her.
"Hi, Mist." Rolf greeted.
Mist realized who it was and sat down.
"Oh, Rolf, it's just you. What are you doing out here?" she asked him.
"Practicing. Shinon said I need to get better with my bow, I have a long way to go until I'm as good as him." Rolf noticed the basket.
"A picnic?" Mist nodded.
"There's enough for two." She said.
Rolf set his bow on the ground and sat down.
"How come?" Rolf asked, taking a bread roll. Mist stared.
"How come what?" Mist asked.
"Why are you out here, alone, with enough food for two people?" Rolf Said, before taking a bite of the bread.
"No one would come with me… Boyd and Ike are always so caught up in training, they forget that I exist…" Mist sighed, fidgeting with her skirt.
"I never forget you exist." Rolf said his mouth full of food. Mist blushed.
"Really? You must actually care." Rolf nearly choked on his roll; he hit his chest to clear his wind pipe.
"I guess I do…" He said as his cheeks turned red. Mist giggled.
"You're so nice to me." She said happily with a warm smile.
The sun shone beautifully through the leaves of the tall trees above them. Nothing was heard, save for the cool breeze through the leaves and the soft chirp of birds.
After eating all of the food, the two lay down on the sheet and stared at the treetops.
"Don't you ever just wish time would stand still?" Mist sighed. Rolf looked at her.
"Everything moves so fast, my brother is already half the age of my father!" she said with a giggle.
"Soon, he'll be so old he wouldn't need me anymore…" she frowned.
"I know what you mean." Said Rolf. "Sometimes it's hard being the younger sibling…" Rolf said with a sigh.
"Always being left behind when the going gets tough, we can fight good right?"
Mist nodded in agreement to Rolf's words.
"And your brother, he's even more ignorant than Ike!" Mist started. "Sometimes I wonder if they even care…" she sat up.
"Well, I care, Mist." Said Rolf, also sitting up. "I care a lot, don't you feel the same?"
Mist turned red.
"Of course," She said, smiling. Rolf moved closer to her.
"I always cared, Mist…" she nodded.
"I know you did." Without notice, she kneeled in front of Rolf and kissed him, both of them blushing.
"I care about you too, Rolf." She whispered as she pulled away. She stood up and held out a hand to pull Rolf to his feet, he took it and stood up.
Not letting go of Rolf's hand, she picked up the sheet and basket, and they walked back home, still holding hands.
Now, if only she could convince her brother to tell Queen Elincia that he cares.
