Rain

The world had turned grey, seemingly leeched of all color by the torrential rain that was falling. The expansive forest was deathly silent but for the rain and the sound of a single pair of slow footsteps. Naruto wandered aimlessly amongst the foliage of the forest, enjoying the feeling of the rain on his cold skin. Alone between the trees and rain, time ceased to exist. All life in the forest had come to a halt; the animals had retreated to the warmth and safety of their nests and burrows, and with Naruto's enhanced ninja senses it seemed that even the insects had drawn back to wait out the storm.

The sky overhead was a dark, steel grey. The sun was completely obscured, making it impossible to know what time of day it was, but Naruto didn't care. He lost himself in the rain, letting it wash away his pains and worries. There in the forest, it wasn't necessary to do anything. It was enough to simply be.

As Naruto walked, he found himself amid a cluster of tall willows. Their long branches reached down toward the earth, making a curtain of vines and leaves. Smiling to himself, Naruto stripped himself of his shirt and made his way to the center of the trees, where there was a small clearing. There, he spread his arms and tilted his head back. In that moment, he was completely alone, and he reveled in it, but the moment passed, and suddenly he wasn't alone anymore.

Behind him came the sound of feather-light footsteps and fabric whispering as it moved, a sense of familiar chakra. Eyes closed, Naruto took in a deep breath through his nose and smiled, breathing out a single word in a soft whisper.

"Sasuke…"

A pair of strong arms wrapped around his waist from behind, and he could feel Sasuke's bare chest pressed against his back.

"Dance with me." Sasuke whispered, pressing his soft lips against Naruto's shoulder. Naruto turned and put his arms around Sasuke, leaning forward until their foreheads touched. Their eyes met, cerulean against obsidian, and Naruto smiled again.

"I've missed you." He told the dark haired shinobi.

"I've missed you too." Sasuke replied. "Dance with me."

Their bodies began to move slowly, turning in a tight circle as the rain fell around them. Another moment came, one even more precious than the moment of being completely alone. In this moment, Naruto wasn't alone at all. He was with Sasuke, dancing in the rain. And everything was perfect.
