Found Again
Once upon a time there was a boy named Natsu. He was found as a little boy, barely able to speak and walk, by a great red dragon named Igneel. The dragon didn't have the heart to turn the boy away so he raised him as if he was his own and taught him magic.
Igneel loved the way his foster son smiled, laughed, and did things. He was like the summer's light shining in on him on a dark day. He loved Natsu and he knew Natsu loved him.
Then one day Igneel left his foster son, leaving him broken hearted and sad. Natsu had cried, of course, as he tried to find his father, but he was left with no success. The scarf his father had given him, his only thing to remember the one who raised him, so he treasured it.
As the seasons went by with flow, flying by and changing as the years swiftly moved along, Natsu grew and changed, a new family to treasure in his heart. He was powerful, not that it mattered to him, he was loved, and he loved the idea that it was more than one person, though he still wouldn't mind if Igneel was the only one to love him. He matured and went through life with an open mind and an open heart, facing dangers with nothing but a smile on his face. He lost and he won some but none of it really mattered as he was still searching for the one he missed oh so much.
Even though it was years since he last saw Igneel, it didn't stop his search. Not once did he stop, not even when he was slain in battle.
His friends, though they were like his family, mourned him with tears and broken hearts as they laid him to rest in a clearing they had found. But they had yet to know that this was the clearing that he had once been found and raised by Igneel, they had yet to see the pile of rocks he used for training and the small carving in the trees with burnt marks. They were too sad to see, they had lost their only summer light, the smile they loved to see now gone and only seen within pictures and memories.
As they walked away, their heads turned from the sight, one girl turned and stop enough to catch a glimpse of a young shirtless boy with tattered pants and scraped up knees, a scarf bellowing on his neck, smiling up at a great red dragon as he laughed merrily and hugged the dragon's snout, then disappear as a torrent of leaves blew past. She smiled despite the tears rushing down her face, a fist before her heart, whispering to the grave.
"You've finally found him... huh, Natsu?" She turned and walked away with the rest.
In life he was torn away with the one who raised him, searching to the ends of the earth to find the one he loved, but in death he had found him, his heart easing up. He was once again whole.
The boy that searched for his father has finally found him and forever happy as he lived with him once again in the clearing that first started it all.
